Introduction¶
When using DeepSeek Harness (DSH) for agent debugging or conversation development, the conversation context is often lengthy. Quickly locating a specific user question in a long conversation usually requires manual scrolling, which is inefficient. The dsh-user-question-nav plugin provides a capsule track on the right side of the conversation area, allowing users to quickly jump to the corresponding position by hovering or clicking, providing a ChatGPT-like navigation experience.
Installation and Enablement¶
This plugin is a client-side plugin and requires the DeepSeek Harness Desktop environment.
- Ensure DeepSeek Harness Desktop has been installed and launched at least once.
- Run the installation command in the terminal:
dsh plugin --profile desktop add dsh-user-question-nav
- After installation, use
Cmd+Qto quit DSH Desktop and reopen it for the changes to take effect.
Core Features¶
The plugin displays a floating capsule track on the right side of the conversation area, containing up/down arrows (⏫⏬) and tick marks. The tick marks correspond one-to-one with user questions in the conversation.
Capsule Track and Drawer¶
Hover the mouse over the tick area and keep it there for 1 second, and the edge drawer will slide out automatically, displaying a list of all user questions. If the mouse quickly sweeps across or leaves early, the drawer will not open, avoiding accidental triggers.
The drawer includes:
* Search box: Enter keywords to filter the question list in real time; the count text switches between “Total N” and “Filtered N”.
* Question list: Each row displays “number · original question”.
Navigation and Jumping¶
- One-click smooth jump: Click any row in the drawer; the conversation area smoothly scrolls to the corresponding question.
- Tick synchronized highlighting: When scrolling the conversation, the ticks on the capsule track update automatically. The tick for the current question is displayed in brand blue, and the hovered tick is displayed darker.
Boundary Handling and Calibration¶
- Boundary bubble tip: When reaching the first or last question, the corresponding arrow turns gray but remains clickable. Clicking a grayed-out arrow shows a bubble tip saying “You are already at the first question” or “You are already at the last question”, which automatically disappears after 1.5 seconds.
- Position drift auto-calibration: When the conversation area shifts as a whole due to operations such as collapsing/expanding panels, a low-frequency timer (1-second interval) detects position changes. If the drift exceeds the threshold, it automatically calibrates the positions of the capsule track and drawer.
- Session auto-remounting: When switching sessions, the plugin automatically detects and remounts to the new conversation container.
Notes¶
- Interaction logic: Boundary arrows only turn gray; they are not set to a disabled state. This prevents users from assuming the feature is broken, and bubble tips guide them when clicked.
- Permissions: The plugin runs with DSH process permissions. It is recommended to review the source code and license (MIT) before installation.
- Position calibration: If position drift occurs, it is usually automatically corrected within 1 second.
Postscript¶
By combining the capsule track and edge drawer, the plugin addresses the pain point of locating a specific question in long conversations. Calibration and remounting mechanisms ensure stability in complex layouts.
