Preface

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture. The built-in “Appearance” settings usually only allow switching between preset themes. If you need to fine-tune colors, backgrounds, or contrast, an additional plugin is required.

Below, we introduce dsh-theme-tuner. It is mounted directly under “General Settings → Appearance” and provides a set of adjustable parameters that take effect in real time without repeatedly toggling buttons.

What Is This?

This is a DSH web plugin for adjusting the interface color scheme on top of existing themes.

  • Maintainer: shawnlone
  • License: MIT
  • Core purpose: Allows users to adjust accent color, background, foreground, contrast, and gradient level for the currently active theme.

Core Features

  1. Location integration
The plugin is mounted immediately below “General Settings → Appearance” and does not occupy a separate entry.

  2. Parameter adjustment
It supports adjusting accent color, background, foreground, contrast, and gradient level. The plugin writes custom values into DSH design tokens (such as --dsw-alias-brand-primary) via theme.overrideTokens.

  3. Theme reuse
It reuses the built-in light/dark/system-preference switching logic and fine-tunes the currently active theme.

  4. Dual-mode saving
Light and dark color schemes are saved separately and do not interfere with each other.

  5. Real-time effect
Changes are reflected in the interface immediately, and can be reset with a single click of “Restore current theme defaults.”

Installation and Enablement

Install using the official CLI:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:shawnlone/dsh-theme-tuner

After installation, the corresponding web profile must be restarted once for the plugin to take effect.

Typical Usage

  1. Open DSH and go to “General Settings → Appearance.”
  2. Below the “Appearance” settings block, you will see the new theme adjustment panel.
  3. Select the currently active theme (such as dark or light).
  4. Drag sliders such as “Accent color,” “Background,” and “Contrast,” and observe the interface changes.
  5. If you are not satisfied with the changes, click “Restore current theme defaults” to reset them.

Use Cases and Notes

  • Use cases: Developers who want to customize DSH interface details, or developers who do not like the built-in theme colors but want to keep the layout.
  • Notes:
    • This plugin organizes the repository root directory as the plugin package and depends on DSH’s plugin loading mechanism.
    • After adding the plugin, the corresponding web profile must be restarted once for it to take effect.
    • The code is open source and follows the MIT license.

Short Closing

This plugin addresses the difficulty of customizing DSH themes by returning fine-grained control to users. For more details and source code, please see the project homepage.
