Preface

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture. As usage deepens, the number of Skills and MCP servers often increases. Manually managing these resources, precisely injecting the required Skills into the context, and independently controlling individual MCP servers can become cumbersome and error-prone.

The dsh-skills-mcp-group-manager plugin aims to solve the issues above. It provides a unified operation entry point through a left-side panel, supports grouped management of Skills, filters the model skill catalog based on group status, and also provides independent on/off controls for MCP servers.

Core Features

The plugin mainly provides the following capabilities:

  • Skill group management: Supports creating, renaming, and deleting groups; groups support collapsing. Member selection and filtering both use a list-plus-多选 mode? Wait translate no. Need final only. Let’s finalize: “list-plus-multiple-selection mode”? Better: “list and multi-selection mode”. Supports select all, deselect all, and batch add/remove after search filtering.
  • Injection filtering: Context injection includes only Skills in enabled groups (supports deduplication, injecting only one instance of each Skill). Ungrouped Skills are not injected by default. Toggling group settings refreshes the catalog in real time.
  • MCP server management: Can enumerate all MCP servers (including Profile MCP servers in the configuration file and user-added MCP servers). Supports independent on/off switches; user-added MCP servers are dynamically mounted and persisted, then automatically restored after restart.
  • Data persistence: Configuration and state are saved to ~/.dsh/mcp-skill-manager/state.json, and the next session automatically reuses the previous settings.
  • UI interaction: Provides a left-side floating panel (shell.overlay) for group management and an on/off entry in the session header, labeled “Skills&MCPs”. The UI is a pure floating panel and does not modify the host layout.

Installation and Activation

No extra configuration is required for installation. The host semi-plugin has zero external package dependencies and only uses Node built-in modules and local modules.

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-skills-mcp-group-manager

After installation, restart the web profile process to make it take effect.

Typical Usage

After installation, management can be performed using the following tools. The plugin exposes the following tools via the RPC route /plugins/dsh-mcp-skill-manager/rpc:

  • Group management: manager_groups_list, manager_groups_create, manager_groups_delete, manager_groups_rename, manager_groups_set_enabled.
  • Skill management: manager_skills_list, manager_groups_add_skill, manager_groups_remove_skill.
  • MCP management: manager_mcp_list, manager_mcp_toggle, manager_mcp_add, manager_mcp_remove.

Use Cases and Notes

  • Compatibility requirements: The host DSH version must be >= 0.1.5-rc.1 (older DSH versions can use compatible version 0.3.2). The host Node version must be >= 18.
  • Data location: The persistence file is located at ~/.dsh/mcp-skill-manager/state.json.
  • Uninstall cleanup: Running the uninstall command automatically cleans up the state directory. If deleting manually, delete the ~/.dsh/mcp-skill-manager/ directory.
  • License: This project follows the MIT License.

Summary

dsh-skills-mcp-group-manager provides DSH users with a clear management interface and filtering logic, suitable for developers who need fine-grained control over Skill injection scope and MCP service enablement.
