Introduction

During daily use of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), managing and cleaning up archived sessions becomes part of routine maintenance as the number of sessions grows. The existing Web UI provides basic archiving operations, but it lacks a centralized browsing interface and automated cleanup policies. The dsh-plugin-archive-manager plugin provides a centralized archive management interface and rule-based automatic archiving capabilities.

Plugin Purpose

This is a client-side plugin designed to add session archive management to the DSH Web UI, along with a Codex-style conversation tick track. The plugin was previously named dsh-plugin-atlas. Starting from version 0.3.0, because the official Web UI already includes the conversation tick track and input history, the plugin no longer duplicates these features and instead focuses on archive management itself.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following core capabilities:

  1. Browse and Group: Archived sessions are displayed grouped by workspace and support keyword search.
  2. Batch Unarchive: Multiple sessions can be unarchived in one operation. After restoration, the sidebar refreshes in real time without requiring a restart.
  3. Automatic Archiving: Disabled by default. Rules such as “inactive for more than N days” or “keep the latest M sessions per workspace” can be configured, and the system checks once per day.
  4. Dry Run: Before automatic archiving is executed, a preview list is available.

Installation and Enablement

Install it via the command line:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-plugin-archive-manager

You can also install it by package name under Settings → Plugins in the Web UI.

Uninstall and Upgrade:
- To uninstall, replace add with remove.
- If upgrading from an older version of dsh-plugin-atlas, first run remove dsh-plugin-atlas and then install this package. Archive rules are carried over automatically.

Typical Usage

  1. Find the plugin entry in the Web UI settings.
  2. Open the archive management interface to browse or search archived sessions.
  3. On the automatic archiving settings page, configure the retention policy.
  4. The automatic archiving rules are checked once per day. Before execution, use the preview list to confirm the affected sessions.

Use Cases and Caveats

The plugin is suitable for developers or operations personnel who need to maintain DSH session history over the long term and want to automate cleanup of old sessions.

Notes:
- All write operations from the plugin require same-origin POST requests.
- Automatic archiving only calls DSH’s public archiveSession endpoint. Unarchiving is handled through the registry’s reserved state-writing path.
- Rule values are range-validated.
- The plugin does not delete any session or file; it only changes the archived state. If future DSH changes make the functionality incompatible, the plugin will report an explicit error instead of corrupting data.
- DSH Desktop embeds the same Web UI, so the plugin takes effect in the desktop client immediately after installation.

Summary

dsh-plugin-archive-manager addresses the pain points of DSH session archive management through a centralized interface and automated rules. It does not compromise data safety and only changes state at the registry level, making it a suitable supplementary tool for session lifecycle management in the Harness ecosystem.
