Introduction¶
DSH relies on a plugin system to extend its functionality. When handling file editing, basic previews or text editors often cannot meet professional development needs. Integrating code-server (the web version of VS Code) into the DSH environment allows users to get a native code editing experience directly within the DSH interface.
What is this¶
This is a static profile plugin maintained by jinsiyu (provided as an npm package). It does not depend on additional build steps. It directly packages the VS Code service tree from a code-server distribution and uses the bundled lib/launcher.mjs in the plugin to drive the service layer, thereby providing professional file editing capabilities in DSH.
Core features¶
- Persistent IDE and file claiming: The plugin registers a
Code Servertab in the DSH right sidebar (since 0.2.3). It supports file URL claiming (dsh-resource://file/**), official artifact chips, “Delivery” cards, or file names in content can be opened directly in that tab. - Editor bridge: Provides
dshcs-editor-bridgefor reading read-only data from the editor, such as unsaved buffers and diagnostics. - Interaction enhancement: Includes an “Ask DSH” dialog and a floating panel, supporting direct questions to DSH within the editor and rendered results.
- Settings: Supports the settings “Open full-screen immediately” and “Persistent in background (switching tabs does not reload)”.
Installation and enablement¶
The plugin source has no build steps. For installation details, refer to the official directory. Ensure that your DSH version supports the sidebarRightTabs service (version requirement 0.1.5-rc.x or 0.1.6-alpha.2+); otherwise, the sidebar entry will be unavailable.

Typical usage¶
- Right sidebar entry: On the “Get Started” page in the DSH right sidebar, click the
Code Serverentry to launch it. - Official artifact association: Official DSH artifact chips, “Delivery” card previews, or file names in the content can be clicked to open the corresponding editor tab in the right sidebar.
- Advanced method: Copy the full address from the settings card, including the path token (in a format such as
http://127.0.0.1:<port>/<token>/, or/code-server/whenserve: dsh), and open it in a browser.
Applicable scenarios and notes¶
- Extension store limitation: The code-server extension store is Open VSX, not the Microsoft Visual Studio Marketplace. The Microsoft Marketplace extension list cannot be queried. Microsoft commercial/proprietary extensions (such as GitHub Copilot and Remote-SSH) must be installed by manually downloading
.vsixfiles. - Runtime permissions: The plugin runs with DSH process permissions.
- License: The provided materials do not clearly display license information. It is recommended to check the source code before use to confirm the licensing terms.
Short conclusion¶
This plugin uses a static profile approach to address the pain point of professional code editing in DSH, providing a persistent IDE experience and file claiming capabilities. To use it, refer to the plugin directory or repository links.
