Intro¶
One of the core concepts of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” In agent development, an Agent often needs to access long-term text data accumulated by users, rather than relying solely on the context of the current session. The traditional approach usually involves configuring external file paths or introducing proprietary vector databases. This post introduces dsh-tiddlywiki, a plain-text, Git-based solution that integrates TiddlyWiki 5 into the DSH ecosystem, allowing both users and Agents to share the same knowledge base.
Plugin Overview¶
This plugin is maintained by bbqisbbq under the MIT license and requires Node.js version 22 or later. Its core positioning is: give DSH your own knowledge base. You can read, write, and keep journals in the interface, while the Agent works with the same set of notes. Data is stored as plain text + Git, can be taken anywhere at any time, and is fully auditable.
Core Capabilities¶
- Shared knowledge base for humans and Agents: What you read and write in the TiddlyWiki interface is exactly what the Agent tools can operate on. There are no separate “what I write for you” and “what it remembers” copies of data.
- Write safety mechanisms: Uses a “read before write” strategy. If the
tagsparameter is not provided, the original tags/fields are preserved. Overwriting files with the same name is rejected by default. Delete operations are moved to the trash. SupportsexpectedModifiedoptimistic concurrency control to prevent silent overwrites. - Restart safety: Before a write operation, the syncer queue is drained first to avoid data loss during restarts. If the queue is not fully drained, it reports
drained:false. - Auditability and traceability: The knowledge base is essentially a Git repository. It supports automatic commits, one-click synchronization, linting, and
valid-until/superseded-bymarkers for superseded content. - Data portability:
.md,.meta,.tid, andfiles/directories are generated directly on disk and can be read without this plugin. - Optional publishing: Supports one-click publishing of notes to a WeChat Official Account draft box (disabled by default).
Installation and Enablement¶
Install it using the official plugin management command:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-tiddlywiki
After installation, restart dsh web. On first startup, the following initialization steps are completed automatically: creating the wiki directory at the specified location, running git init, committing a baseline, and writing initial content such as plugin documentation. No manual configuration is required.
Usage Flow¶
- Edit: Click TiddlyWiki in the sidebar to open the full editor in the central column. Above the input box or in the Knowledge Base area at the bottom right, quickly create a note. Once written, it is automatically committed to Git.
- Agent interaction: In the conversation, simply say “save this to the knowledge base,” and the Agent will call the
tiddlywiki_*tool family to perform read/write operations. - Sync: After finishing work, click 🔁 Sync to execute the
pull -> commit -> pushworkflow.
Scope and Notes¶
- Best for: People who need a local, plain-text, portable long-term note base and want the Agent to participate in reading and writing it.
- Important note: This is not an “automatic memory” plugin. It does not crawl content in the background, does not perform vector recall, and does not “remember” anything without the user’s awareness. All operations happen in the user-visible file system. Because it relies on TiddlyWiki’s mental model, the first time you use it may take a few minutes to become familiar with its structure.
Conclusion¶
This plugin brings TiddlyWiki 5’s editing capabilities and Git’s version control capabilities into the DSH ecosystem, enabling bidirectional data flow between humans and Agents while giving users full control. For more details, see the GitHub repository or the skill library catalog.
