Introduction¶
In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) web interface, agent activity often appears only as streams of text and lacks intuitive visual feedback. Spritely (formerly ui-sprite) places a dynamic character in a corner of the interface, making agent states such as standby, thinking, and writing more concrete for clearer interactive feedback.
Plugin Overview¶
Spritely is a dsh client plugin in the playful customization category. It is maintained by user wang-junjian. Its main role is to act as a “companion” for work status, keeping the interface from becoming monotonous while adding a sci-fi HUD style.
Core Features¶
- Multiple character switching: Built-in styles include a blue orb, a mint robot, a cat, and a ghost.
- Status synchronization: The character changes its pose in real time based on the agent’s current working state (standby, thinking, writing, working, waiting, or error).
- Interaction and following: Pupils follow the mouse, and the character can be dragged to any position.
- Custom backgrounds: Supports solid colors, gradients, image URLs, and local image uploads, with zoom and fade overlay options.
- Text selection tool: Select text in a message to trigger copy, read aloud, or ask a question (inserted into the input field as a blockquote).
- Data persistence: Character, background, and position are saved in the DSH Host user settings file (
~/.dsh/settings.yaml) and shared across browsers.
Installation and Enablement¶
Install it using the official command.
dsh plugin --profile <name> add @wangjunjian/dsh-spritely
Usage Steps¶
- Click the sprite to open the menu.
- Choose an action:
- New session: Start the default workspace workflow.
- Reset position: Drag the sprite back to the default bottom-right corner.
- Set background: Adjust colors, gradients, or upload an image.
- Select sprite: Switch between the four characters.
Notes¶
- Build artifacts: The
lib/directory in the plugin source code is not committed to the repository. It is automatically built by thepreparescript during installation. - Dependencies: All peer dependencies are in-box packages included with
dsh, so no separate installation is required. - Legacy compatibility: If you previously manually configured
ui-spriteaccording to the old instructions, remove the corresponding configuration line to avoid duplicate registration.
Conclusion¶
Spritely improves the DSH experience by visualizing status, making it suitable for users who want to add more fun and feedback to the interface.
