Introduction¶
The core advantage of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) lies in its plugin-based architecture. In real-world conversations, AI models often generate a large amount of pleasantries, filler words, and redundant transitional descriptions, which significantly increases output token consumption. dsh-whale is a DSH plugin created by developer 1Lyn-en. It provides a set of minimalist response modes and a cyberpunk-style UI theme. By compressing natural language expression, the plugin can save 60–75% of output tokens while preserving technical terms and key information.
Core Features¶
This plugin mainly includes the following capabilities:
- Six-mode minimization: Provides Light, Standard (default), Ultra, Wenyan Light, Wenyan Ultra, and Off modes.
- CyberUI theme: Automatically switches to the cyberpunk theme when Whale mode is activated, and restores the DSH default theme after exiting the mode.
- Token savings statistics: Displays an estimated number of tokens saved in the current turn at the end of the reply.
- Enhanced interaction: Includes a whale button in the conversation header, full-screen transition animations, and keyboard shortcut support.
- Minimal commit messages: Supports automatic generation of minimal commit messages based on Git changes.
- Automatic clarity protection: When safety warnings, irreversible operations, or multi-step sequences are involved, it automatically temporarily exits minimal mode to ensure semantic accuracy.
Installation and Activation¶
Use the officially provided command to install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:1Lyn-en/dsh-whale
After installation, restart the dsh web process and enter /whale in the conversation interface to activate the mode dropdown menu.
Typical Usage¶
- Switch modes: Enter commands such as
/whale lite,/whale ultra, and/whale wenyan-liteto switch to the corresponding response styles. - Generate a commit: Enter
/whale-committo automatically generate a minimal commit message. - Set the default mode: Enter
/whale-default fullto set the default mode. - View the status: Enter
/whale statusto view the currently active mode and all available options.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Version requirements: Supports DSH 0.1.0-rc.6 and later.
- Theme behavior: The CyberUI theme is only active when Whale mode is enabled. When switching back to another mode or disabling the plugin, the interface will restore the DSH default theme.
- Token estimation: The savings statistics provided by the plugin are estimates. The calculation logic uses 1 token per Chinese character and 0.25 tokens per English character.
- License: The open-source license is MIT.
Conclusion¶
dsh-whale is suitable for developers who need high information density and reduced token consumption in conversations. For more details, source code, and compatibility configuration, refer to the project homepage.
