When debugging long conversations in the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web GUI, quickly locating user questions often requires frequent scrolling. The dsh-question-nav plugin provides a dot minimap along the left or right edge of the conversation column for quick navigation.

Plugin Positioning

This is an in-conversation question navigator for the DSH Web GUI. It is maintained by AbelKeithsun and embeds a vertical dot track along the edge of the conversation, mapping users’ historical questions into visual nodes.

Core Features

The plugin has the following characteristics:

  1. Edge-aligned minimap: The dot track is located on the left or right edge of the conversation column (switchable in settings). The track is embedded in the interface and does not reserve extra width.
  2. Height limit and scrolling: The track height is limited to 60% of the conversation height. Overflowing content can be scrolled within that area.
  3. Question mapping: Each dot represents one question, strictly aligned with the round numbers in the Trajectory view.
  4. Full-history persistence: All historical questions are recorded and the data is persisted. Content is not displayed by expanding the rendering window.
  5. Hover focus: When hovering over a dot, the dot and its immediately adjacent dots above and below are enlarged. At the same time, a vertically stacked card list (5 cards in total) appears next to the dot, showing the full question text and send time (same day shown as HH:MM, across days shown as MM-DD HH:MM).
  6. Click to jump: Clicking the dot or the corresponding card jumps to the question’s position in the chat window.
  7. Overflow control: When the number of questions is large enough to exceed the 60% height limit, an ▲ button appears above the track and a ▼ button appears below it. Clicking them paginates more dots; the page size is configurable (default 5).
  8. Zero dependencies: The client invokes the DSH Shell externally, so it does not consume extra runtime resources.

Installation and Enablement

Before installing, ensure the environment meets the Node.js version requirement (Node.js >= 20).

  1. Installation command:
dsh plugin --profile web add @luziyang2026/dsh-question-nav
After restarting the Web GUI, the plugin will load automatically.
  1. Version selection:
The plugin is released under two version lines:
    • latest: Stable version, matching the DSH SDK 0.1.1-rc.1 line, suitable for most daily use.
    • alpha: Alpha version, matching the Alpha GUI dedicated SDK line.

Typical Usage

  • View details: Hover the mouse over a dot on the edge to view the full question text and send time.
  • Quick jump: Click a dot or the context card that appears on hover, and the chat window will automatically scroll to the corresponding question message.

Notes

  • Alpha GUI compatibility: If using the Alpha GUI, you must install the alpha version line; otherwise, functionality will be degraded (only projection dots are shown).
  • Empty-area interaction: Empty areas of the track do not block chat interaction and do not affect normal message input and reading.
  • Configuration adjustments: You can adjust the track alignment (left/right) and the number of dots displayed per page (3/5/8/10) through the settings menu.

Summary

dsh-question-nav solves the cumbersome task of locating user questions in long conversations through visual edge navigation. It does not change the chat window layout and only provides lightweight rapid indexing over the full history.
