Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts an “everything is a plugin” architecture. When developing agents or debugging workflows, developers usually need to inspect session execution paths, timing statistics, and model invocation costs. As a read-only plugin, dsh-watcher is designed to solve these problems by providing session insights and local model usage statistics.

Plugin Overview

Plugin Name: aa2246740/dsh-watcher
One-Sentence Positioning: Read-only Agent work-path observer for DeepSeek Harness (a read-only observer of Agent work paths in DeepSeek Harness)
Maintainer: aa2246740
License: MIT

Core Features

This plugin provides the following core capabilities:

  1. Read-only Session Insights and Statistics: Reads DSH session insights and local model usage statistics, without injecting messages into the conversation or fabricating hidden chains of thought.
  2. Collapsible Work-Path Observer: Collapses the work path into a foldable view, displaying rounds, steps, and durations.
  3. Visualization of Parallel Branches and Tool Results: Visualizes parallel branches and tool results, supporting expansion within steps for detailed inspection.
  4. Session Aggregation and Grouping: Supports session aggregation and grouping, for example classifying two package.json modification operations together.
  5. Cost Estimation: Calculates cost estimates based on pricing/models.yaml, including major models such as DeepSeek, MiniMax, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Grok, GLM, and Qwen by default, without accessing the network.
  6. Web Platform Support: Supports the Web platform, but depends on the DeepSeek Harness Web Host.

Installation and Enablement

The plugin requires DeepSeek Harness 0.1.7-rc.1 or 0.1.7-rc.2 (the peer range of @deepseek-ai/dsh-* is >=0.1.7-rc.1 <0.1.8), as well as Node.js ^22.19.0 or >=24.

  1. Open the DeepSeek Harness desktop application.
  2. Go to Settings → Plugins → Add Plugin.
  3. In “Package Name or URL,” enter the following address:
    github:aa2246740/dsh-watcher#v0.6.1
  1. The desktop plugin manager handles the Desktop profile and the built-in package manager. After installation, refresh or reopen the application as prompted.

Web CLI

If installing via the command line, specify the web profile:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:aa2246740/dsh-watcher#v0.6.1

After installation, reopen the Web Host and refresh the webpage. The official CLI only manages the web profile and cannot modify the Desktop App profile.

Typical Usage

After installation, you can use the following features in the session interface:

  1. View the Work Path: Click the “eye” icon in the session title bar to collapse the session into a foldable work path, showing how many steps were executed, how many times were run, and how long it took.
  2. Switch View Modes: Switch between views, supporting changing from item-by-item mode to grouped mode. For example, two package.json modification operations are grouped as ×2.
  3. Expand Details: Click a specific step to expand and view parallel branches, tool results, or reasoning records that are collapsed by default.
  4. View Costs: An estimated cost is displayed next to the total Token count on the settings page and the session HUD. This is priced by model input/output/cache buckets based on pricing/models.yaml; if only part is known, only the priced amount is shown. This is an estimate, not an invoice.

Notes and Use Cases

  • Permission Limitations: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process.
  • Not a Replacement for Official Components: It does not replace the official Trajectory; it only serves as an auxiliary read-only observation tool.
  • Data Sources: The default table includes major models such as DeepSeek and MiniMax, without network access; missing entries are displayed as unknown and are not treated as $0.
  • Privacy and Security: The plugin is open source under the MIT license. It is recommended to review the source code and license before installation.
  • Target Users: Suitable for DSH developers who frequently debug workflows, analyze Agent execution paths, or monitor model invocation costs.

Conclusion

By providing collapsible work-path observation and cost estimation, dsh-watcher helps developers understand the execution process of Agents more clearly. It does not intrude into the conversation flow and focuses on data display and statistics.
