In the development workflow of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), long-running Agent tasks often lack real-time auditory feedback, making it easy for developers to miss the timing of task completion or abnormal termination. The dsh-reminder plugin faithfully ports the functionality of pi-peon-ping-win to DSH, providing task lifecycle feedback through sounds and desktop notifications.

Core Features

The plugin is based on OpenPeon sound packs and triggers sounds and notifications when task status changes:

  • Plays thematic audio segments.
  • Displays desktop notifications.
  • Native Windows support, with a three-level audio fallback mechanism: ffplay → mpv → winmm.dll.
  • Custom WinForms popup window.
  • Supports OpenPeon sound packs.

Installation

Install as a Profile plugin:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-reminder

After installation, restart Harness or reload the Profile; the plugin automatically inserts the cordis.patch.yml configuration.

Configuration and Usage

All settings are completed through the Web interface; there is no need to use the /peon slash command.

  1. Open the Web settings page (gear icon in the sidebar), scroll to below “Agent Presets”, and find the “peon-ping sounds” section.
  2. In that section, you can:
    * Install default sound packs: Download 10 default packs directly from the peon-ping registry.
    * Select a sound pack: Toggle active status among installed packs.
    * Adjust volume: Set playback volume.
    * Toggle switches: Control desktop notifications, tool error sounds, and category-specific sounds (such as task.complete, task.error, etc.).
    * Configure mute window: Ignore task completion notifications for tasks shorter than the specified number of seconds.
  3. Configuration changes are written in real time to ~/.config/peon-ping/config.json and take effect without a restart.

Platform Support

The plugin supports multiple platforms, and the audio player is selected automatically based on the system:

  • Windows: Installing FFmpeg is recommended (winget install Gyan.FFmpeg); fallback order is ffplay → mpv → winmm.dll.
  • macOS: Uses the system-builtin afplay.
  • Linux: Tries pw-play, paplay, ffplay, mpv, play, or aplay with priority.
  • WSL: Plays via PowerShell MediaPlayer, with paths automatically converted to the Windows view.

Notes

  • Default behavior: By default, sounds are triggered only for task completion or abnormal termination; other events (such as session start, tool errors, etc.) are disabled by default.
  • Permission dependency: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. It is recommended to review the source code and license before installation.
  • Data sharing: The configuration file is shared with pi-peon-ping and located in the ~/.config/peon-ping/ directory.
