Introduction

When developing or debugging with DeepSeek Harness (DSH), the sidebar usually contains only conversation content. Developers find it hard to intuitively monitor the remaining context of the current session, provider resource balance, and cumulative time invested in the workspace. The dsh-hud plugin introduces gamified HP/MP/TIME metrics, embedding these key status indicators directly into the Harness sidebar without requiring an additional dashboard.

What is It

dsh-hud is a status display plugin designed for the DeepSeek Harness sidebar. It is maintained by yuanliangxiannan and released under the MIT License.

Its core value is to provide three intuitive gauges:

  • HP (Hit Points): Remaining context capacity of the current session.
  • MP (Magic Points): Remaining resources for the current provider.
  • TIME (Time): Cumulative working time of the current workspace Agent.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following core capabilities:

  1. Provider-aware MP: Resource display follows the actual provider routing rather than the model name. Supports DeepSeek Official (shows balance) and OpenCode Go (shows 5H/Weekly/Monthly quotas, with the primary value taken from the tightest window).
  2. 56px Rail: When the sidebar is narrowed to 56px, it automatically switches to Mini HUD (vertical bar + tooltip) without occupying extra space.
  3. Interaction Controls: Supports manually collapsing/expanding the full HUD (about a 34px icon button), clicking opens a detail panel, and supports the official COMPACT action.
  4. Data Sources:
    • HP: Based on Harness’s contextPressure projection.
    • TIME: Deduplicated interval statistics from session turn/start → turn/end.
  5. Configuration: Supports custom full-balance amount (mpMaxBalance) and resource refresh interval (balanceRefreshMinutes).

Installation and Enabling

Download dsh-hud-0.1.0.tgz from Releases, then run the following command.

BigFish users:

dsh plugin --profile web add ./dsh-hud-0.1.0.tgz

Native DeepSeek Harness users:

dsh plugin add ./dsh-hud-0.1.0.tgz

After installation, fully exit and restart Harness for the configuration to take effect.

Typical Usage

  1. View Status: The bottom of the sidebar displays the current HP, MP, and TIME. Use HP to check context, MP to check resources, and TIME to check cumulative workspace time.
  2. Collapse/Expand: In wide sidebar mode, clicking the HUD collapses it into a single icon button (about 34px), and clicking again restores it.
  3. Rail Mode: When the sidebar is narrowed to 56px, the status bar automatically becomes a Mini HUD, showing only a vertical bar icon and tooltip.

Notes

  1. Supported Scope: v0.1.0 only includes built-in adapters for DeepSeek Official and OpenCode Go. When using other providers (such as GLM, OpenRouter), MP displays --.
  2. Rail Mode: In Rail mode, specific numbers are not displayed; only the visual vertical bar is retained.
  3. Feature Limitations: No extension features such as EXP, level, achievements, statistics charts, or history records are currently available.
  4. Security: The plugin resolves provider credentials (environment variable references) only within the Host process and never transmits them to the Client bundle, RPC, or logs.
  5. Compatibility: Requires DeepSeek Harness version 0.1.0-rc.6 or later, Node.js >= 20.

Summary

dsh-hud helps developers monitor resource consumption in real time through intuitive gauges, making it suitable for scenarios that require fine-grained management of context and API resources.
