In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) web editor, directly passing files or folder structures often requires manual uploading or writing complex path references. The dsh-clipfile plugin adds native file mounting capabilities to DSH Composer, supporting clipboard pasting, native file selection, and fuzzy path search, addressing the interaction bottleneck of file transfer.

This is a client-side plugin maintained by whyzsm, designed to simplify file interaction in the DSH web editor.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following four file interaction methods:

  1. Clipboard pasting: Copy a file or folder in macOS Finder, then paste directly in the editor by pressing ⌘V. The plugin detects clipboard content via osascript furl, without uploading the file.
  2. Native file selector: Click the + button next to the editor to invoke the macOS native file selector (NSOpenPanel), supporting multi-selection of files or folders.
  3. @ mention path completion: Enter @ followed by a keyword in the editor, using mdfind for fuzzy path search to automatically complete the file path.
  4. Paginated Markdown conversion: A pasted folder is converted into INDEX.md (index page) and pages/*.md (paginated content), allowing the agent to read page by page and avoiding loading too much data at once.
  5. Removable tags: Each attachment is displayed as a tag; click ✕ to remove it. Tags are only valid for the current session; when switching conversations, the attachments for that conversation are displayed, and they are automatically cleared after sending a message.

Installation and Enablement

To install the plugin, simply run the following command:

dsh plugin --profile web add whyzsm/dsh-clipfile

Typical Usage

  1. Select a file or folder in Finder, then press ⌘V in the DSH editor to paste.
  2. Click the + button next to the editor to open the system file selector for multi-selection.
  3. Enter @ followed by a keyword from the file path; the system will automatically complete the path.

Notes

  • Platform limitation: The plugin only supports macOS and depends on osascript, NSOpenPanel, and /opt/homebrew/bin/python3.
  • Zero-copy mechanism: Attachment processing uses a zero-copy mechanism: the plugin reads read-only content from the original paths and packages the converted paginated Markdown into the .dsh-clipfiles/md/ directory.
  • Session scope: Attachment tags are visible only in the current session; when switching conversations, the attachments for that conversation are displayed, and they are automatically cleared after sending a message.

Summary

dsh-clipfile improves the efficiency of handling local files and folders in the DSH web editor through native file interaction methods. For more details, view the plugin directory or source code.
