Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts the architectural philosophy of “everything is a plugin.” When handling complex multi-step tasks, an AI conversation may include system instructions, model responses, tool calls, reasoning processes, and sub-Agent tasks. A standard list view makes it difficult to clearly distinguish roles and context. The DSH Group Chat View plugin aims to solve this issue by imitating the WeChat group chat interface, reconstructing the originally flat conversation into a multi-role interaction scene, and making it easier for developers to review tool call details and subtask execution status.
Core Features¶
The plugin mainly provides the following capabilities:
- Role Identification and Visual Indicators: Each role has an independent avatar, nickname, and bubble color.
- Markdown Support: Messages are displayed as bubbles and support Markdown rendering, including headings, code blocks, and tables.
- Collapsible Tool Calls: Tool call messages can be collapsed or expanded, with input parameters and output results automatically merged into a single card.
- Nested Sub-Agent Display: Sub-Agent tasks are displayed as nested group chats, supporting expansion to view the real-time message stream.
- Metadata Viewing: Clicking an avatar displays detailed message metadata, such as model name, temperature, token usage, and duration.
- Dark Mode: The interface follows the DSH theme and switches automatically.
- Localization: Supports Chinese and English interfaces.
- Auto-Scroll and Collapse: When scrolled to the bottom, new messages are automatically followed; when moving away from the bottom, a “Back to Bottom” button appears in the bottom-right corner; the top button can collapse all tool messages or reasoning content with one click.
Installation and Configuration¶
Installing this plugin requires a ready DSH environment and the following Node.js version requirement: >= 22.19.0 or >= 24.0.0.
Run the installation command:
dsh plugin add github:tang-zhilei/dsh-group-chat-view
During the first installation, pnpm may request authorization to run build scripts (the prepare script automatically compiles TypeScript). DSH will prompt you to add the following configuration to the pnpm-workspace.yaml file in the profile directory:
allowBuilds:
dsh-group-chat-view: true
After adding it, run the installation command above again.
After the installation is complete, restart DSH. A 「Group Chat」 tab will appear at the top of the session view. Click it to switch to the group chat style view.
Interface and Role Mapping¶
In the group chat view, different DSH roles correspond to different group chat identities:
| DSH Role | Group Chat Identity | Visual Presentation |
|---|---|---|
| System | System Announcement | Yellow warning bar, centered |
| Assistant | DeepSeek | Light gray bubble, left side |
| Tool | Tool Person | Light blue bubble, left side, collapsible |
| User | Me | Green bubble, right side |
| Reasoning | Thinking | Semi-transparent purple bubble, left side |
| SubAgent | Sub-Agent | Light purple bubble, nested display |
Limitations and Notes¶
- Sub-Agent Status: Sub-Agent status currently has only “Running” and “Completed” states (DSH directories do not have a failure status field).
- Metadata Fields: The fields displayed in the metadata popup depend on the data actually provided by the DSH snapshot. If the trajectory plugin is not loaded, some fields may be missing.
- Development Dependencies: The plugin project structure includes a
src/directory, which contains the server-side entry and various client components (such as MessageList, MessageBubble, and ToolCallCard).
Conclusion¶
The DSH Group Chat View plugin makes complex AI execution processes more intuitive and readable by reconstructing the conversation view. If you prefer to review multi-agent collaboration through a group chat perspective, you can obtain the plugin source code from the following links:
