Preface¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is a highly modular development environment, and its ecosystem is expanding rapidly. In DSH usage scenarios, developers often need to check session status or handle simple approvals from a mobile device, but the official DSH still does not provide a first-class mobile companion. The dsh-coding-remote-kit plugin fills this gap by providing a secure, end-to-end encrypted mobile companion for an already running desktop dsh web instance. Through a dual-plane architecture and an RPC whitelist mechanism, it enables remote access under restricted write permissions.
Plugin Positioning¶
This is a community-maintained plugin (not from DeepSeek official), intended to provide functionality similar to Orca Mobile Companion rather than a full IDE clone. It uses a dual-plane architecture and an RPC whitelist mechanism to ensure the mobile side can only perform restricted operations such as observing sessions, handling approvals/questions, and sending short replies. Heavy editing must still be completed on the desktop.
Core Features¶
- Bilingual interface: Both the desktop settings page and the mobile companion support switching between Chinese and English.
- One-time pairing: The desktop displays a QR code or an 8-digit PIN. The mobile side binds to the desktop X25519 public key and holds a
deviceToken, while the server stores only a SHA-256 digest. - Dual-plane architecture: Management routing stays on local Loopback, while the mobile data plane uses a dedicated port (default 6879), with RPC calls restricted by a whitelist.
- End-to-end encryption (E2EE): After the handshake establishes the connection, the
/m/wschannel is encrypted using tweetnacl secretbox. Unauthenticated Socket connections can never see session contents. - Narrow write access: The mobile side can only observe sessions, answer approvals/questions, and send short replies. Complex editing workflows must be completed on the desktop.
- Private network first: LAN or Tailscale connections are preferred. Cloudflare Quick Tunnel (exposes only the data plane, not port 3080) or a self-hosted relay Worker is optional.
Installation and Activation¶
Before installing, make sure the environment meets the following dependency requirements:
* DeepSeek Harness 0.1.1-rc.2 (pinned version)
* Node.js 22.19+
Run the following command to install:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-coding-remote-kit@0.7.1
After installation, the operator must restart the existing dsh web process to load the plugin.
Typical Usage¶
- Desktop: Open Settings → Mobile Remote and create a pairing invitation (QR code or PIN).
- Mobile: Visit the mobile path of
dsh webin a phone browser, then scan the QR code or enter the PIN to complete pairing. - Operation: After successful pairing, the mobile side can view the session list, handle user questions, or interact through Assistant streaming output.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Use cases: Developers who need to quickly check Agent status on a mobile device, handle user questions, or perform simple confirmations.
- Notes:
- This is a community plugin, not affiliated with DeepSeek and not officially endorsed.
- Do not use
dsh plugin add dsh-mobile-remoteduring installation; that name corresponds to an unrelated WeChat remote-control plugin. - Do not use
dsh plugin add ./during installation; use the packaged tarball file to avoid a full GUI crash caused by alink:source. - It is recommended to check the source code and license before installation.
Summary¶
dsh-coding-remote-kit provides a secure and restricted mobile remote access solution for the DSH ecosystem through a standard plugin shape and dual-plane design. It prioritizes the security of private network connections and strictly limits mobile-side write permissions, making it suitable as a complementary tool to the desktop.
