Introduction

In local development, it is common to operate Claude Code or Codex directly from the terminal. However, DeepSeek Harness (DSH) primarily provides a browser-based control interface. Constantly switching between the browser and the terminal can break the development flow.

The dsh-plugin-local-agent-bridge plugin solves this problem. It brings local Claude Code and Codex sessions into the DSH browser UI, allowing you to manage all interactions in a single interface without leaving the browser.

Plugin positioning

This is a client-side plugin maintained by user Leshm0321. It provides a DeepSeek Harness browser-based control surface for managing native Codex and Claude Code sessions on the Host.

Core value

The plugin does not act as an LLM adapter or call model HTTP APIs. It bridges local processes so that the browser serves as the UI, while authentication and execution still happen in the Host terminal.

Core features

The plugin provides the following capabilities on the browser side:

  • Unified panel management: A Local Agents entry appears in the sidebar, and sessions are managed by working directory.
  • Keyboard-driven workflow: Supports Enter to send, Shift+Enter to insert a line break, ↑ to review historical messages, and Esc to interrupt the current turn.
  • Permission mode control: Provides five permission modes—Auto, Manual, Accept edits, Plan, and Bypass—mapped to the actual support scope of the native products.
  • Expandable execution details: Supports expanding tool calls and thinking processes to inspect the input and output of each step.
  • Context monitoring: Displays a context usage warning when a session becomes too long.
  • Native tool approval: The browser shows native tool approval prompts consistent with the terminal instead of writing to configuration files.
  • Session resume and switch: You can continue a terminal session in the browser, or switch between Claude Code and Codex on the same machine and in the same directory.
  • UI consistency: Supports multiple languages and follows the Harness theme (light/dark).

Installation and enablement

Before installing, ensure that the built-in web profile for DeepSeek Harness is already installed.

Install with the official command

Run the following command to add the plugin to the web profile:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:Leshm0321/dsh-plugin-local-agent-bridge

Verify installation

After installation, you can check whether the configuration is active with:

dsh --profile web --dump-config

Start the Harness web interface:

dsh web

Typical usage

After installation, follow these steps to start using the plugin:

  1. Confirm the environment: In the terminal where Harness is started, ensure that the claude --version and codex --version commands are available.
  2. Open the panel: Find the Local Agents entry on the left side of the browser interface.
  3. Add a working directory:
    • Enter an absolute path on the Host in the panel.
    • Or click the Browse… button to select a directory.
  4. Create a session:
    • Select the product (Claude Code or Codex).
    • Select the corresponding directory.
    • Click Create session.

Environment requirements and notes

The plugin has specific dependencies on the Host environment and clear security boundaries.

System requirements

  • DeepSeek Harness: 0.1.6-alpha.2 or later is required.
  • Node.js: ^22.19.0 or >=24.0.0.
  • pnpm: 11.7.0.
  • Claude Code: >=2.1.220 <2.2.0 (optional).
  • Codex: >=0.147.0 <0.156.0 (optional).
  • Operating system: Windows 10/11 x64, macOS 13+, Linux x64/arm64.

Security and permissions

  • No credential transfer: The browser never logs in to Anthropic or OpenAI and never receives vendor cookies, OAuth tokens, API keys, or native session identifiers. All authentication and execution happen in Host terminal processes.
  • Version compatibility: Unsupported or unrecognized product versions are rejected by default. The plugin lists installed versions and allowed version ranges, and you can override allowExperimentalVersions via local configuration (however, this does not constitute an official compatibility statement).

Limitations

  • Login required: Claude Code or Codex must be installed and logged in on the Host; the plugin does not provide a login interface.
  • pnpm restriction: If installing directly from a Git URL, pnpm requires the corresponding commit hash to be added to the allowBuilds list in the configuration file.
  • Web profile only: You must use the built-in web profile; otherwise, the browser UI will not be displayed.

Summary

dsh-plugin-local-agent-bridge allows you to integrate the local execution capabilities of Claude Code and Codex into the DeepSeek Harness browser ecosystem. With unified keyboard shortcuts, permission management, and session views, it provides a workflow for managing local agents without leaving the browser.
