The Web profile of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is the primary environment for agent development and debugging. During long-running sessions, the interface often lacks dynamic visual elements beyond textual feedback. DSH’s plugin system supports extending frontend rendering capabilities, and this plugin leverages that mechanism to bring the visual and interactive features of Petdex desktop pets into the DSH web interface.

Plugin Overview

dsh-petdex-pet is a client-side plugin maintained by zenglihunter. It brings Petdex desktop pets into the DeepSeek Harness web interface, providing visual companionship through pure browser-side rendering.

Core Features

This plugin provides the following specific features:

  • Bottom-right floating interaction: The pet appears as a floating element in the bottom-right corner and supports dragging. Clicking it expands a menu, and the status bar updates in real time according to DSH activity (idle, running, jumping, waving, failure, awaiting approval, etc.).
  • Behavioral animations: When hovering with the mouse, the pet randomly waves or performs a “thinking” greeting; in the running state, it automatically alternates between left and right running directions.
  • Settings and configuration: It provides a dedicated pet settings page, supporting adjustments to pet size (40%–150%), enabling or disabling the pet, managing the “My Pets” list, and gallery search previews.
  • One-click installation: Supports one-click installation of new pets via installation code (such as npx petdex@latest install doraemon) or a pet link/slug.
  • DSH status synchronization: The pet state is tightly bound to DSH tasks; for example, it jumps when a task starts, runs while the task is executing, waves after completion, and displays the corresponding animation when a task fails or awaits approval.
  • Ready to use out of the box: It includes 4 Hunter × Hunter protagonist pet packs (Gon / Killua / Kurapika / Leorio), with spritesheets and configuration files.
  • No desktop dependency: It uses pure browser-side rendering and does not require installing the Petdex desktop application.

Installation and Enablement

This plugin is only applicable to the web profile of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) (default path C:\Users\<你>\.dsh\profiles\web\).

  1. Open the DSH web profile directory and edit the package.json file.
  2. Add the following to dependencies:
    "@dsh-external/dsh-petdex-pet": "github:zenglihunter/dsh-petdex-pet"
  1. Add the following to the end of the dsh.profile.bundles array:
    "@dsh-external/dsh-petdex-pet"
  1. Run pnpm install (or npm install) in that directory.
  2. Restart DSH. A “Pet” option will appear on the settings page, and the pet will be displayed in the bottom-right corner.

Usage Example

After installation and restarting DSH, the plugin automatically seeds the 4 built-in Hunter pets into the ~/.petdex/pets/ directory (marked by ~/.petdex/.dsh-petdex-bundled.json, and executed only once).

If you need to install an external pet, you can use the installation code from the settings page or the command line. For example, run the following command in the terminal to install a pet named doraemon:

npx petdex@latest install doraemon

Applicable Scenarios and Notes

  • Permissions and scope: The plugin runs with the permissions of the DSH process, so ensure that the DSH web profile directory has write permissions.
  • File sharing: Pet files are stored in the ~/.petdex/pets/<slug>/ directory and include pet.json and a spritesheet file (pet.spritesheet.webp or png). These are shared with the Petdex desktop app.
  • Built-in pet behavior: If a pet with the same name already exists on the target machine, the built-in pet will not overwrite it; if the user manually deletes it, the built-in pet will not be restored.
  • Open-source redistribution: The built-in spritesheet assets come from the Petdex community gallery. If you plan to redistribute them in an open-source project, be sure to verify the asset license terms and include the source and credits in your documentation.

Summary

With dsh-petdex-pet, DSH users can enjoy pet companionship and status feedback in the web interface, similar to the desktop experience. If you are looking for a way to make DSH’s runtime state more vivid, visit the directory page or the GitHub repository for more information.
