Introduction

In DeepSeek Harness replies, file paths commonly appear as plain text. To open these files, users must manually locate them in a file manager. The dsh-file-links plugin converts file paths into blue clickable links and provides a right-click menu, supporting opening, previewing, and revealing the file in the file manager.

Core Features

The plugin mainly provides the following capabilities:

  1. Click Path: Open the file with the system default application.
  2. Right-Click Menu:
    • Preview: View text or image content inline in a panel.
    • Reveal in Explorer: Show the file in Windows Explorer.
    • Open: Equivalent to clicking the path.
  3. Technical Features:
    • Reuses the official openPath, with zero runtime dependencies.
    • Supports Chinese paths and paths containing spaces.
    • Only enhances paths, with no extra sidebar or noisy list.

Installation and Enabling

Add the plugin using the official installation command, then restart the service:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:wmglimpser-hash/dsh-file-links

After installation, restart dsh web and refresh the browser to apply the changes.

Usage

In a reply, any absolute path wrapped in backticks becomes a blue link. For example:

`C:\project\README.md`

Available interactions:
* Left-click: Opens the file with the system default application.
* Right-click: Shows the menu (Open file / Preview / Reveal in Explorer).

Path Rules: Only absolute paths are clickable, including Windows drive paths (C:\...), UNC paths (\\server\share\...), POSIX absolute paths (/home/...), and ~. Relative paths and bare file names remain plain text; clicking them fails silently.

Platform and Limitations

  • Windows: Tested, including Chinese paths and paths with spaces.
  • macOS / Linux: Platform support status untested.
  • Preview: Works for text and common images; PDFs, Office documents, and binary files are rejected for preview.
  • Reveal: Works only on Windows and depends on the explorer /select, command.

The plugin achieves zero dependencies by reusing the official openPath, and it only enhances existing paths without extra UI noise.

Ecosystem Background

The DSH philosophy is “everything is a plugin.” This plugin is maintained by a community developer and is not an official DeepSeek product. It is recommended to review the source code and license before installation. For more details, refer to the plugin directory or the GitHub repository.
