Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is designed around the principle that “everything is a plugin.” In the Web UI, the default workspace directory selector starts from the Linux home directory, and the breadcrumb navigation collapses there. In WSL environments, Windows drives are usually mounted at paths such as /mnt/c, /mnt/d, etc. With the default selector, it is difficult to locate these directories by clicking, and the breadcrumb navigation cannot navigate back to the root directory. The dsh-wsl-workspace-picker plugin rewrites the default browse dialog using slot priority overriding to solve this problem.
What Is It¶
This is a pure UI plugin that enhances the workspace directory selection experience in the DeepSeek Harness Web UI. It is maintained by WilliamShi666 and is released under the MIT license.
Core Features¶
The plugin provides the following features to simplify file system navigation in WSL environments:
- Quick-access chips: One-click access to Home,
/,/mnt, and common Windows mount points (such as/mnt/c,/mnt/d,/mnt/e,/mnt/f). - Always-visible path input: You can directly enter an absolute path (for example,
/mnt/d/projects) and press Enter to confirm. - Full breadcrumb navigation: Breadcrumbs start from the root directory
/and no longer collapse at the Home directory. - File operations: Support creating new folders and toggling the display of hidden files.
Installation and Enabling¶
Before installation, make sure that DeepSeek Harness 0.1.0-rc.6 or a later version is running locally (web profile).
Run the following command to install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-wsl-workspace-picker
After installation, restart dsh web and refresh the browser page. Click the + button in the workspaces area of the sidebar, or open the workspace selector in the conversation-hero area, to see the enhanced dialog.
Uninstallation¶
To remove the plugin, run the following command:
dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-wsl-workspace-picker
Technical Principles and Limitations¶
The plugin is registered on the directoryFlow slot (including sidebar.workspaces.directoryFlow and conversation.hero.workspace.directoryFlow) with a priority of -10. DSH’s slot system follows the principle that the lowest priority takes precedence, so the priority -10 overrides the default priority 0 plugin. After uninstalling the plugin, the default dialog is restored automatically.
In implementation, the plugin reuses the host’s existing browse capabilities (that is, ctx.workspaces.listDirectory and createDirectory) and does not include any host-side code or network connection requests.
The plugin requires /mnt/<drive> mount points in the environment (a typical WSL setup). In other environments, the quick-access chips may display directories that do not exist, but this does not affect normal usage.
