Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) emphasizes an “everything is a plugin” architecture. When used on the Web, developers may prefer a window experience closer to the native system, or they may want to run DSH independently outside the browser. dsh-wx-desktop provides a solution for this need: it is built based on the official DeepSeek Harness, wraps the Web GUI into a standalone desktop application, while preserving the flexibility of the plugin system.

What It Is

dsh-wx-desktop is a standalone Electron application. It embeds the dsh runtime internally and supports reusing a configured profile and all plugins. It can either run directly or be mounted as a DSH plugin inside a Web profile, providing an “Open Desktop” entry in the browser GUI.

Core Features

  • Standalone Electron application: Provides a native window experience; the application menu and window size are handled by the OS.
  • Self-contained dsh runtime: Includes the dsh runtime and embedded Node inside Electron, so the target machine does not need Node installed to start it.
  • Runs with existing installation: Smartly detects junction usage; if a dsh installation is already running, it reuses that installation to avoid conflicts.
  • 100% plugin compatibility: Loads the complete dsh Web GUI and supports host plugins and client plugins.
  • Single instance and graceful shutdown: Prevents duplicate startup and ensures child processes terminate correctly on shutdown.
  • Custom brand icon: Built-in DeepSeek blue-toned icons.

Installation and Activation

As a DSH plugin mounted to a Web profile:

dsh plugin --profile web add link:E:\code\work\wxDshPlugin\dsh-wx-desktop

After mounting, refresh the Web interface to use it.

Typical Usage

  1. After mounting the plugin, refresh http://127.0.0.1:3080.
  2. A “Desktop” entry will appear in the sidebar.
  3. Clicking the entry launches the desktop app through a local route (POST /dsh-wx-desktop/open).
  4. If that junction is currently occupied by another dsh installation, that installation will be reused.

Notes

  • Size and architecture: Uses a self-contained embedded dsh + Electron embedded Node + HTTP loading architecture. The installer size is large; the self-contained dsh runtime is about 220 MB.
  • System compatibility: Can start without Node installed.
  • Path sharing: The desktop app and Web app share the same $DSH_HOME.
