In DeepSeek Harness (DSH), sessions are by default forced into a workspace or displayed in an additional “Ungrouped” folder. This design is less direct when frequently switching between independent conversations. spookysandwich/dsh-plugin-no-workspace adds first-class “No Workspace” sessions to DSH. It lets standalone sessions appear directly in the sidebar, without an artificial “Ungrouped” directory or forced inheritance of the current workspace.
Core Capabilities¶
This plugin maintains compatibility with the native experience by wrapping DSH’s registered slots rather than rewriting the entire navigation.
- True first-class sessions: Adds a “No Workspace” state to DeepSeek Harness; sessions are persisted and support restoration.
- Preserves the native sidebar: Does not replace the native sidebar or fake folders.
- Data safety and cleanliness:
- Detaching only updates the workspace session index and fully preserves session events, drafts, and context (does not corrupt history).
- Does not pollute the execution directory; new standalone sessions use the user home directory.
- Consistent language experience: The interface follows DSH and displays “No Workspace” or its localized equivalent.
- Works with native features: Adapts to sidebar component properties and the separated workspace entry; native workspace features (search, menus, drag and drop, sorting, archiving, and directory selection) remain unchanged.
Installation and Activation¶
Add the plugin using the official install command:
dsh plugin --profile desktop add dsh-plugin-no-workspace
After installation or upgrade, restart DSH so that both host-side and client-side code are reloaded.
Usage Examples¶
- Create a standalone session: Click “New Session” at the top to create a standalone session directly, without inheriting the current or most recently used workspace.
- Move out of a workspace without loss: In the workspace selector, choose “No Workspace” to move the current session out of the workspace without data loss.
- Collapse workspaces: After collapsing real workspaces, standalone sessions still appear as first-level sessions in the sidebar.
- Standalone conversation: Open a standalone blank session; input, model selection, attachments, and sending are immediately available.
Compatibility Notes¶
- DSH version: The compatibility range is
>=0.1.5-rc.2 <0.1.6-0. Official0.1.5-rc.2has been verified. - Legacy compatibility: For older DSH versions, keep the previous plugin version.
