Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) emphasizes pluggability and modularity. When handling academic content, a common practice is to rely on paper abstracts or reconstruct from memory, which often leads to incomplete demonstrations or loose logic. The dsh-paper-slides plugin aims to solve this problem. As a coordinator, it reads the full paper, sets a budget for a specific scenario, and automatically generates a structured demonstration.
Core Features¶
This plugin mainly addresses the workflow question of “how to generate a qualified academic report from a paper,” with the following capabilities:
- Read full text instead of abstracts: supports retrieving the actual full-text content of a paper via DOI, arXiv, or semantic search.
- Scenario-based duration budgeting: for different scenarios such as seminar (group meeting), conference, defense, proposal, and journal club, automatically calculates appropriate duration and slide count.
- Content decomposition: returns the slide budget for each section, clearly distinguishing content on slides from the scripted content in speaker notes.
- Output format adaptation: returns expected output formats based on scenario. For example, conferences and defenses usually require editable
.pptxand HTML, while group meeting reports usually only need HTML. - Skill integration: provides three core skills:
plan_talk(planning),make_slides(generation), andpaper-to-talk(end-to-end workflow).
Installation and Dependencies¶
The plugin itself does not directly read data or render files; instead, it coordinates other plugins. When installing, its dependencies must also be installed:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-ai4scholar dsh-slides dsh-paper-slides
After installation, start the Web environment to load the plugin:
dsh web
Dependency Description¶
- dsh-ai4scholar: provides paper search, full text, figures and tables, and citation data.
- dsh-slides: responsible for rendering planned content into files (HTML and PPTX).
Configuration and Usage¶
The plugin registers related skills by default. To customize the configuration, add the following entry to cordis.patch.yml:
- id: paper-slides
config:
skills: true # 注册 paper-to-talk 技能
planTool: true # 注册 plan_talk 工具
promptGuidance: true
promptOrder: 145
Typical Usage¶
The user only needs to provide the paper source and desired duration to generate a presentation. For example:
“Turn this paper 10.1038/s41586-021-03819-2 into a 12-minute conference report.”
The system will automatically read the full text, plan a 12-minute talk structure, build slides around key figures and tables, write speaker notes as a script, and ultimately output an HTML or PPTX file.
Notes¶
- Language: The internal logic of the skill body is in English, but the model will output the final report in the language of the user’s input.
- Output formats: The specific output formats (such as HTML and PPTX) are provided by the
dsh-slidesplugin, supporting offline-play HTML and editable PPTX.
Summary¶
dsh-paper-slides provides DeepSeek Harness users with a standardized workflow from paper to academic report. By reading the full text, budgeting time, and decomposing content, it avoids the information loss caused by relying on abstracts.
