Introduction¶
During the development and use of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), facing an ever-growing ecosystem—including the core repository and many community repositories tagged with dsh-plugin—developers often face a common question: How can they quickly identify Harness solutions relevant to their current goal? And are these existing solutions worth trying?
What Is dsh-plugin-scout?¶
dsh-plugin-scout is a DeepSeek Harness plugin and skill maintained by icefall7 and belongs to the “Workflow” category. Its core purpose is to scout the DSH ecosystem: scan the core deepseek-harness repository and all repositories tagged with dsh-plugin, discover Harnesses related to the goal, and determine whether each candidate is worth trying.
Core Features¶
The plugin provides the following capabilities:
- Full-Ecosystem Scan: Scout the core deepseek-harness repository and all public repositories tagged with
dsh-plugin. - Listing Generation: List deepseek-harness packages and locally installed official packages.
- Filtering: Include only public, non-archived, non-Fork repositories.
- Relevance Focusing: Narrow down candidates based on the user’s goal.
- Code Review: Inspect candidates’ README,
package.json, and file tree. - Verdict Output: Apply judgment criteria and provide a verdict (TRY / WATCH / SKIP).
Installation and Enablement¶
Before use, ensure your environment meets Node.js >= 18.0.0. The installation command is:
dsh plugin add https://github.com/icefall7/dsh-plugin-scout
After installation, the Bundle automatically registers the plugin-scout skill. If you need to install the skill directory separately, you can copy skills/plugin-scout to $DSH_HOME/skills/.
Typical Usage¶
You can use this skill by asking DSH questions such as:
- “Is there a harness for X in the ecosystem? Should I try it?”
- “Before I build a Y plugin, what already exists?”
- “Survey the dsh-plugin topic and judge what is worth adopting for my goal.”
When running, the skill executes two deterministic scripts:
scripts/survey-harness.mjs: Lists deepseek-harness packages and locally installed official packages.scripts/search-topic.mjs: Lists public, non-archived, non-Fork repositories tagged withdsh-plugin(with pagination support).
Then, the system filters relevant candidates, reviews their documentation and file structure, and generates a verdict based on references/judgment-rubric.md.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Locate Existing Resources: Before starting to build a new Harness, first check whether an off-the-shelf solution already exists in the core repository or community.
- Evaluate Community Solutions: In the face of a large number of community plugins, use this tool to quickly judge whether one fits your requirements.
- Responsibility Boundary: Note that dsh-plugin-scout is only responsible for “scouting” and “judgment.” Installing selected plugins is handled by
find-plugins, while building new plugins is handled bymake-dsh-plugin. - Permissions and Security: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current dsh process. It is recommended to review the source code and license before installation (this project is MIT licensed).
Summary¶
dsh-plugin-scout is an efficient tool for exploring the DSH ecosystem. It helps you systematically understand the current state of the ecosystem and decide whether to adopt, watch, or skip a Harness based on objective criteria.
