Preface¶
The plugin ecosystem of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) emphasizes functional extensions. During use, browser tab hibernation can stop JavaScript execution, and system notifications may be blocked by the browser. As a result, cards for approvals, questions, or session ends may not receive timely responses and the page may need to be refreshed manually. The dsh-attention plugin emits notifications through the DSH host process, resolving hitches and missed events caused by tab hibernation.
Plugin Positioning¶
dsh-attention is a DeepSeek Harness plugin in the “Memory” category. Its core value: when a session needs approval, question, selection, or a round of conversation ends, it displays an actionable reminder in the bottom-right corner; it also handles automatic refresh when returning to a hibernated browser tab, avoiding stuck approval cards.
Core Features¶
- Reminders even when the web tab is hibernated: Notifications are issued by the dsh host and do not use the browser
NotificationAPI. Even if the tab is frozen and JavaScript stops, approvals, questions, and session-end events can still pop up. - Handle directly on the card: Allow/deny, single-select/multi-select, custom input (titled “Other”), write the next step; click to submit and the session continues. It does not take over the approval card on the web page. Multi-question cards are checked question by question, and “Submit” sends them all together.
- Official cards close automatically: If the native card is answered first, the plugin passes the same result to the DSH official approval/question card, causing the web page card to close automatically without refreshing the page. The number of records is controlled by
settledMax. - Theme and appearance: Custom cards follow the dsh theme, support light/dark mode, frosted glass, and countdown bar. Adjustable opacity and motion preview are supported.
- Session management: Supports returning to an existing session or opening a new window. Supports multi-monitor focus following.
- Independent control: Supports independent control for sub-agent end reminders.
Installation and Enablement¶
Use the official installation command to add the plugin to the web profile:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-attention
After installation, restart dsh web for it to take effect.
Typical Usage¶
- Model requests elevated permissions / questions: Allow/deny appears in the bottom-right corner; click “Return to session” to switch back to that session. After answering in the bottom-right corner, the approval card on the DSH web page closes automatically.
- End of a round in the main session: Write the next step in the window and send it. Sub-agent end reminders are disabled by default; when enabled, they only prompt and provide “Return to session,” without showing a reply input box.
- Returning after tab hibernation: If hidden for about 8 seconds or more, it automatically refreshes once (equivalent to F5), replaying any pending approval cards.
- Settings adjustment: Go to Settings → Reminders, use the top toggle to control the global notification switch, then adjust sound, return-to-session behavior, style, opacity, display duration, hibernate refresh, and answered record count in the groups.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Platform limitations: Custom cards and system notifications only pop up on Windows 10+; on other systems, after installation, the settings page and hibernate-wakeup refresh remain available.
- Dependency environment: Custom cards prefer PowerShell 7 and fall back to Windows PowerShell 5.1 if absent; system notifications still use WinRT Toast from 5.1.
- Return-to-session behavior: “Return to session” matches by window title/PWA name. If dsh is in a background tab, it may only bring the entire browser to the foreground. For regular browser tabs, it is recommended to choose “Open new.”
- Automatic refresh mechanism: Automatic refresh mitigates pending cards lost after tab hibernation; it is not a patch for the connection layer.
- Automatic close mechanism: Depends on the plugin’s in-memory “answered records.” After exceeding
settledMaxentries, the oldest entries are discarded. If a card is replayed at that time, it may need to be clicked manually once.
Conclusion¶
dsh-attention fills the interaction gap in DSH multi-task scenarios through host notifications and automatic refresh mechanisms. For users who frequently handle approvals or long conversations, it provides a more stable operation flow.
