Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) plugin ecosystem emphasizes modularity and extensibility. When developing complex Agent workflows, Agents need to access historical task results to maintain context, or store the conclusions of the current task for later reuse. If relying solely on memory, data is lost after a process restart; introducing databases increases complexity and dependencies.

dsh-gitmemo is a plugin designed for DSH. It stores an Agent’s long-term memory in a local .mem Git repository. By managing memory entries through a Git repository, it ensures data persistence and auditability while avoiding additional runtime dependencies.

Core Features

The plugin provides memory management capabilities to the DSH environment through the Cordis plugin mechanism.

  • Memory Storage: Uses a local .mem Git repository to manage long-term memory; all operations are recorded in Git history.
  • Core Tools: Provides five core tool methods:
    • mem_search: Search memory entries.
    • mem_read: Read a specified memory entry.
    • mem_write: Store a new task result.
    • mem_delete: Remove outdated conclusions.
    • mem_replace: Replace an outdated conclusion (accomplish deletion of the old file and addition of the new file in a single commit).
  • Scope Limitation: The plugin is registered only to the root agent (i.e., the root agent where delegationDepth === 0); it does not distribute tools and rules to subagents, keeping workflow rules clean.
  • Configuration Support: Supports configuring parameters through the cordis.patch.yml file, such as setting a limit on the number of search results.

Installation and Enablement

Before installing, ensure the environment satisfies the following dependencies:
* DeepSeek Harness (dsh) version >= 0.1.0-rc.6
* The git CLI tools are installed on the system

Run the following command to install the plugin:

dsh plugin --profile web add @fonlan/dsh-gitmemo

After installation, the dsh web process must be restarted for the plugin to take effect and be registered to the corresponding profile.

Configuration

The plugin supports parameter adjustments in DSH configuration files. The default configuration is usually sufficient; if changes are needed, add or override configuration items in cordis.patch.yml.

For example, adjust the maximum number of entries returned by a single search:

- id: dsh-gitmemo
  config:
    searchLimit: 20

Use Cases and Notes

  • Use Cases: Suitable for developers who need to persist knowledge in Agent sessions, record task conclusions, and keep data traceable.
  • Notes: The plugin runs entirely based on a local Git repository and does not rely on cloud services. Because the plugin runs under the permissions of the current DSH process, ensure read and write permissions for the local .mem directory. It is recommended to review the source code and license information before installing.

Short Conclusion

dsh-gitmemo introduces a Git repository into DSH workflows, providing Agents with a lightweight, local, and auditable long-term memory solution. Developers do not need to manually run memory management commands; the plugin automatically handles reading, writing, and updating memory.
