Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) extends its functionality through a plugin system. The default static interface often makes it hard to feel immersive. The b-tq/dsh-wallpaper plugin aims to solve this problem by allowing users to use local videos or images as a full-screen dynamic background and tune parameters for better visual effects.
Overview¶
The plugin provides the following capabilities:
* Full-screen dynamic wallpaper: videos play muted in a loop, images tile across the full screen.
* Effect tuning: supports adjusting mask darkness, panel opacity, and scale mode (fill/fit/stretch).
* One-click switching: select an item in the wallpaper library to use it immediately, or delete it anytime.
* Upload/import: supports local uploads (mp4/webm/gif/jpg/png/webp, up to 1GB) and scanning/importing from the Wallpaper Engine Workshop.
* Persistent saving: settings are written to ~/.dsh/wallpaper-config.json and are not lost after restart.
* Lightweight with no platform-specific dependencies: it does not depend on macOS/Linux-only packages and runs natively on Windows.
Installation and Activation¶
Prerequisites: DeepSeek Harness is installed (dsh web opens normally), Node.js >= 22.19.
Use a single command to register it automatically:
dsh plugin --profile web add "github:B-TQ/dsh-wallpaper"
After installation, force-refresh the browser (Ctrl + Shift + R), then find “Dynamic Wallpaper” in the settings menu to see the plugin interface.
Usage¶
Go to Settings → Dynamic Wallpaper to control the wallpaper.
- Switch and library: Enable the master switch. In the wallpaper library, view files under
~/.dsh/wallpapers, click to switch immediately, or delete unwanted files. - Upload local files: Click upload, select a local video or image; the file is automatically added to the library and set as the current wallpaper.
- Scan Workshop: Click scan; the plugin finds wallpapers in the Wallpaper Engine Workshop and imports them.
- Effect tuning: Adjust mask darkness, panel opacity, and scale mode; changes take effect immediately.
Configuration and Notes¶
Workshop directory scanning: By default, it scans D:\steam\steamapps\workshop\content\431960. If your Steam library path is different, set the environment variable DSH_WALLPAPER_WORKSHOP_ROOT to specify the path.
Common issues:
* Windows reports EBADPLATFORM: This error can be ignored because the plugin does not depend on macOS/Linux-only packages.
* Settings page is blank: This is a browser cache issue; force-refresh the browser.
Uninstall¶
- Remove the
wallpaperentry from~/.dsh/profiles/web/cordis.patch.yml. - Remove the
dsh-wallpaperdependency line from~/.dsh/profiles/web/package.json. - Delete the linked file and source directory
~/.dsh/plugins/dsh-wallpaper.
Conclusion¶
This plugin provides a lightweight dynamic background solution for DSH. For more details, check the plugin directory or source code.
