Preface

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture, enabling developers to define agent behaviors through extended tools and prompt instructions. In educational scenarios, agents typically need to handle structured tasks such as course outlines, quiz validation, grading rubrics, and study plans. This plugin provides a standardized set of educational tools for DSH agents, where the model generates the specific content and the plugin enforces structure and rule validation.

Features

The plugin provides the following nine core tools, covering the entire workflow of instructional design, assessment, and statistics.

  1. Course Skeleton
Generate a course outline skeleton organized by grade level (elementary/middle school/university/adult), with a minute budget.

  2. Quiz Validation
Validate quiz items: check whether the stem exists, whether there are at least 2 unique options, whether the answer index is within the valid range, and whether an explanation is included.

  3. Analytic Rubric
Automatically generate an analytic rubric table based on a criteria-by-levels matrix.

  4. Flashcard Conversion
Convert question-answer pairs into Anki TSV or Markdown format.

  5. Readability Check
Check text readability: Flesch measure for English and a CJK length heuristic for Chinese.

  6. Score Sheet
Generate a score sheet from scored items: calculate total score, percentage, letter grade, and pass/fail status.

  7. Study Plan
Generate a weekly study plan based on a specified date range and topic hour budget.

  8. Question Skeleton
Generate a question skeleton based on question type (single-choice/multiple-choice/fill-in-the-blank/short answer) and difficulty.

  9. Class Statistics
Perform statistical analysis of class scores: calculate mean, median, standard deviation, pass rate, and score band distribution.

Installation and Activation

Run the following command in the terminal to install the plugin. After installation, restart the DSH process; the edu_kit tools will be registered globally.

dsh plugin --profile <profile> add dsh-plugin-education

Configuration

In the config field of a Composition Row, the following optional parameters can be configured:

  • personaSection: whether to register the educational prompt guidance section (defaults to true).
  • sectionOrder: the ordering of prompt sections (smaller values appear first, defaults to 6).

Design and Constraints

  • Dependency Requirement: The plugin depends on @deepseek-ai/dsh-tools (0.1.0-rc.6) for schema validation.
  • Pure Logic Library: Core logic is located in lib/education.js; this file contains no DSH or Cordis imports and has isolated unit tests.
  • No Side Effects: The plugin does not include file system access, and its behavior is deterministic.
  • Compatibility Fix: Fixed a startup failure in earlier versions caused by JSON schema schema.required not being supported by the value-schema DSL.

Conclusion

This tool provides structured support for applying DSH agents in education, covering key areas from curriculum design to score statistics. For more details and source code, see the GitHub repository or skill center directory.
