The default interface of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is opaque and has a fixed background. If you want a more personalized visual experience during development or use, or want a dynamic wallpaper to show through the interface, you will need a plugin extension. dsh-ui-wallpaper is a plugin designed for the DeepSeek Harness Web GUI. It imitates the mechanism of Wallpaper Engine, allowing users to set local images, GIFs, or videos as the application background and adjust the semi-transparency of the interface.

Core Capabilities

The plugin achieves its effects through a three-layer overlay:
* Media layer: Supports images, GIFs, and videos as backgrounds.
* Interface layer: The application interface has a semi-transparent effect, allowing the background to show through.
* Control layer: Provides brightness adjustment (20%–200%) and playback speed adjustment (GIF/video 0.1x–5x).

Installation and Enablement

Use the CLI to install the plugin:

dsh plugin add github:youzhoujiMrLiu/dsh-ui-wallpaper

Note: If the installed pnpm version is 10 or higher, the plugin build script may be rejected. In this case, copy the package key output during installation into the allowBuilds block of the pnpm-workspace.yaml file in your profile, then rerun the installation command.

After installation is complete, refresh the page in the Web GUI and go to the Settings page, where you will see the Wallpaper option.

Usage

  1. Set the background: In the Web GUI, go to Settings > Wallpaper and select a local image, GIF, or video file.
  2. Adjust brightness: Use the brightness slider to adjust the displayed background brightness in real time, with a range of 20% to 200%.
  3. Adjust speed: For GIFs or videos, use the ▲/▼ buttons to adjust the playback speed. Videos use native playback rate control, while GIFs are implemented through decoded frame redrawing.
  4. Import Wallpaper Engine wallpapers: On Windows, the plugin supports one-click import of installed Wallpaper Engine wallpapers. Before importing, ensure that your Wallpaper Engine version is 2.8.0 or higher. If ffmpeg is not installed on your system, the import panel will provide an option to download the component with one click.

Notes

  • Tiled mode limitation: In tiled mode, playback speed adjustment is not supported for GIFs.
  • FFmpeg dependency: Importing Wallpaper Engine wallpapers (especially scene and web wallpapers) requires ffmpeg. The plugin provides a function to download the necessary component.
  • Permissions and security: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Before installing, please check the source code and license.
