Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture and supports configuration through the Web GUI. During use, adjusting the behavior of subagent models, MCP tools, or skills for a specific session often requires modifying configuration files or restarting the service. The dsh-session-settings plugin provides the ability to manage these session-level settings directly in the Web interface, enabling real-time changes without restarts.

Plugin Overview

This is a plugin designed for the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web GUI, maintained by u9521 under the MIT License. It provides centralized management of session settings, MCP servers, and skills through the Web interface, allowing users to flexibly switch between global defaults, parent session inheritance, and session-specific customization.

Core Features

The plugin mainly includes the following capabilities:

  • Sidebar navigation entry: Adds a top-level entry in the settings navigation sidebar for centralized management of MCP servers and skills.
  • Dedicated session tab: Adds a dedicated tab in the conversation view for configuring the current session’s subagent model, MCP tools, and skills.
  • Flexible mode switching: Supports three modes.
    • Use global defaults: Automatically inherits global default rules.
    • Follow parent session: Inherits the model and reasoning effort level from the parent session.
    • Session customization: Specifies a custom model, available MCP servers, and specific tool/skill disable rules for the current session.
  • Immediate effect: Through runtime request interception and on-demand MCP client lifecycle management, configuration changes take effect without restarting DSH.
  • Centralized MCP server management: Provides sidebar navigation, supports two-stage compatibility probing, automatic protocol downgrade, and tool mode checks for MCP servers.
  • Session-level MCP tool control: Independently controls the enabled status of MCP servers in each session and enables/disables specific tools.
  • Session-level skill management: Independently enables or disables built-in, user, and project skills in each session, with support for dynamic prompt directory filtering.

Installation and Enablement

Install the plugin via DSH CLI.

dsh plugin --profile web add github:u9521/dsh-session-settings#dist

After installation, start or restart the Web service to load the plugin.

dsh web

Environment Requirements

The plugin has specific requirements for the DSH mainline version and runtime environment.

  • DSH version: The target version is >= 0.1.5-rc.1, with native support for Session Format V3 and Cordis 4.0.2. DSH <= 0.1.2 is not supported.
  • Node.js version: Requires ^22.19 || >=24.

pnpm run build

Notes

  • The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Modifying configurations involves system-level operations, so please review the source code and license before installation.
  • After updating session settings or disabling tools/skills, no service restart is required; changes take effect immediately with the next request.

Conclusion

dsh-session-settings provides DSH users with fine-grained session control, simplifying configuration for model routing, MCP protocol, and skill scheduling through the Web interface. For more details, refer to its GitHub repository.
