When using DeepSeek Harness (DSH), following up on an AI response is a common action. The traditional approach requires manually selecting and copying the text, then pasting it into the input box, which makes the workflow fragmented. The dsh-selection-followup plugin is designed to address this interaction pain point by optimizing the selection experience through client-side logic.
Plugin Overview¶
This is a pure client-side plugin maintained by zzx-dear. Its core function is: when any text in a DSH chat response is selected, a “Follow-up / Copy” bubble appears. It does not provide preset question templates. Instead, it inserts the selected content into the input box as a quote, and the user enters their own question.
Core Features¶
- Follow-up quote: Click the “Follow-up” button to insert the selected content as a quote into the input box and focus it. The user then types their question after the quote and presses Enter to send.
- One-click copy: Click the “Copy” button to copy the selected text directly to the clipboard.
- Bubble interaction: A bubble appears below the selection. Clicking outside the bubble or scrolling the page closes it.
Installation and Enablement¶
Run the following command to install:
dsh plugin --profile web add "github:zzx-dear/dsh-selection-followup"
After installation, restart dsh web for the change to take effect.
Typical Usage¶
- Select a passage of text with the mouse in any chat response.
- A bubble appears below the selection. Click “Follow-up” or “Copy”.
- If you click “Follow-up”, the input box will display the quoted content. Enter your question after the quote and press Enter to send.
- If you click “Copy”, the text will be copied to the clipboard.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Runs purely client-side: The plugin logic runs in the browser. There is no additional host-side logic, and
lib/index.jsexists only for installability. - Trigger scope: It is only effective within the conversation area (
[data-conversation-scroll]). If text is selected inside the input box, the bubble will not be triggered. - Quote limit: The follow-up quote limit is 2000 characters. Longer content is truncated automatically.
- Input mechanism: The plugin uses the native
value settertogether with theinputevent to write to the input box, ensuring compatibility with React controlled inputs.
The plugin is licensed under MIT, and the source code can be reviewed independently.
The steps above allow you to quickly quote response content in the DSH interface for follow-up questions. For more details and source code, see: GitHub.
