Preface

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) follows an “everything is a plugin” design philosophy. While focusing on agent logic and conversation capabilities, the visual presentation of the Web interface also affects the development experience. dsh-soft-glass-ui is an unofficial visual-layer plugin. It provides a soft-glass visual theme for DSH by decorating existing DOM nodes.

Core Features

This plugin covers multiple core states of the DSH Web interface:
* Coverage: Home, conversations, trajectory, settings, menus, dialogs, and related Web UI states.
* Theme support: Provides Light and Dark theme switching.
* Long draft handling: For chat input fields, long drafts are confined to an internal scrollable area, rounded-corner clipping is preserved, and a compact bottom safe area is reserved for the bottom statistics line.
* Behavior isolation: Only visual styles are modified; the behavior of Harness Agent, Session, Tools, Permissions, storage, credentials, or the model runtime is not changed.

Installation and Activation

Installing the plugin from a release archive requires specifying a local path:

dsh plugin --profile web add <path-to-dsh-soft-glass-ui.tgz>

After installation, restart the Web process to make the styles take effect.

Windows Quick Operations

For Windows users, the repository provides command-line wrapper scripts that automatically handle the Harness checkout path, pnpm environment, and port occupancy issues.

  • install.cmd: Stops the Harness process, removes the old/current theme, installs the plugin, starts Harness, and opens the browser.
  • uninstall.cmd: Stops Harness, removes Soft Glass and the old theme, and restores the original UI.
  • start.cmd: Starts Harness on the default port 3081, or detects a running instance.
  • stop.cmd: Stops the detected Harness process.
  • status.cmd: Displays the Harness directory, pnpm path, installed themes, archive hash, port occupancy, and command-line information.

Optional parameters:
* -HarnessRoot: Specifies the Harness checkout path.
* -Port: Specifies the port number.
* -NoOpen: Does not automatically open the browser after installation.

Note: The scripts automatically add pnpm to the child-process PATH to avoid the pnpm is not recognized error when installing the plugin.

Removal and Rollback

If you need to remove the plugin or roll back to the original interface, run:

dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-soft-glass-ui

After restarting the Web process, the original Harness UI should be restored automatically.

Building from Source

In a compatible Harness checkout directory, place this directory under plugins/soft-glass-ui, then run the build:

pnpm run build

The build process uses the Harness client-bundle preset and runs the release sanitizer to remove build-machine paths.

  • Architecture note: The plugin uses the DSH client plugin injection path. It decorates existing DOM nodes by adding data-softglass-* attributes and applies scoped CSS modules. On uninstallation, the decorations and style tags are removed automatically without replacing or patching core source files.
  • Log location: Runtime logs are written to %LOCALAPPDATA%\SoftGlassUI\logs.

  • Unofficial project: This community project is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by DeepSeek or the Kelivo project.
  • Compatibility note: Although compatibility with DSH 0.1.0-rc.5 has currently been verified, compatibility with future Harness versions is not guaranteed and should be re-tested after upgrades.
  • Port occupancy: The scripts do not automatically stop unknown processes occupying the selected port; port conflicts must be handled manually.
