The DeepSeek Harness plugin ecosystem allows feature expansion in the Web interface. ZutoMayoo’s totoTheCat belongs to the “Fun Dress-up” category. It introduces a desktop pet named Toto into the Web interface, serving as a static display or companion tool.

Plugin Overview

  • Name: toto-the-cat
  • Maintainer: ZutoMayoo
  • Category: Fun Dress-up
  • License: MIT
  • Stars: 0

Core Features

This plugin primarily provides the following capabilities:

  • Sequence-frame animation: Supports loop playback of multi-frame images such as idle-0.png, or uses a single-frame static sprite.
  • Draggable: Toto can be dragged to any position on the screen, and the position is automatically remembered.
  • Pomodoro timer: Clicking Toto reveals an entry point. Users can start a focus session, and after completion the system automatically enters a break.
  • Growth system: Focus time generates experience points, which are used to unlock “30 Facts About Toto”.
  • Settings page: Provides adjustments for size, animation speed, pixel rendering, and other parameters.
  • Accessibility-friendly: Respects the system’s “reduce motion” preference.

Installation and Activation

Install the plugin via the command line:

dsh plugin --profile web add toto-the-cat

After installation, the DeepSeek Harness Web service must be restarted for the plugin to take effect:

dsh web

Usage Flow

  1. Interaction entry: Clicking Toto displays two text entries (“Pomodoro timer” and “30 Facts About Toto”).
  2. Panel operations: Click an entry title to open or close the corresponding feature panel.
  3. Appearance customization: Place custom images into the plugin’s assets/ directory (for example, idle-0.png), then restart dsh web to replace Toto’s appearance.
  4. Control: There is a manual close button (×) in the upper-right corner of Toto. Clicking it hides Toto, and a persistent wake pill appears in the lower-right corner.

Configuration and Customization

Appearance Assets

Toto’s appearance is entirely determined by the images in the assets/ directory. The supported format is PNG (with transparency). The recommended aspect ratio is 4:5.

  • Static sprite: Place idle.png
  • Animation frames: Place consecutive frames such as idle-0.png, idle-1.png; by default they loop at approximately 4 fps.

Settings Items

Go to Settings → Toto Desktop Pet, and adjust the following parameters:

  • Show Toto: Toggle overall visibility.
  • Size: 0.6–1.8x scaling (default approximately 180×225 px).
  • Animation: Toggle sequence-frame animation.
  • Animation speed: Frame interval time, range 120–400ms.
  • Pixel rendering: When enabled, nearest-neighbor scaling is used to keep pixel art crisp.

Data Storage

Experience progress and configuration are stored in the following locations:

  • Experience progress file: $DSH_HOME/toto-the-cat-state.json
  • Configuration cache: Browser localStorage (key name toto-the-cat:config)

Notes

  • Environment dependencies: Only supports the DeepSeek Harness Web profile (dsh web). Requires a Chromium-based browser (Chrome / Edge).
  • Activation condition: After installation or configuration changes, dsh web must be restarted for changes to take effect.
  • No runtime dependencies: The plugin itself does not depend on additional npm packages.
  • Asset requirements: If the assets/ directory is empty or the filenames do not conform to the specification, Toto will not be displayed.
