Introduction

In the development workflow for DeepSeek Harness (DSH), skills usually exist as SKILL.md files in the local filesystem or in the official registry. When debugging, modifying configuration, or checking status, developers often need to manually view and edit these files in a terminal or file manager. dsh-skill-studio integrates the skill manager directly into the Web settings panel, allowing developers to browse skills, view the full text, edit configuration, and control invocation status through a browser interface.

What It Is

This is a workflow plugin maintained by zhengjy01. It uses the Web settings panel to let users view all skills discovered by DSH, read the complete SKILL.md file, edit the file content directly, and control whether a skill is enabled, as well as model and user invocation permissions, through toggles.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following capabilities:

  1. Web management interface: In “Settings → Skill Manager”, all skills are listed with their name, description, source root directory, nested flag, and model/user invocation status. Clicking any skill lets you view its full content. After editing and saving, the content is written back to the file. Toggles can enable/disable a skill or adjust invocation access.
  2. Command-line tools: The plugin exposes tools such as skillmgr_list, skillmgr_get, skillmgr_save, and skillmgr_policy, which can be used in Agent scripts.
  3. Hybrid directory scanning: The plugin scans both standard root directories (such as the project .dsh/skills or the user ~/.dsh/skills, with support for one level of nesting) and the official registry ctx.skills. Skills on disk can still be displayed even if the host flat filesystem provider is disabled.
  4. Configuration modification mechanism: Enabling or disabling works by modifying the front matter fields (disable-model-invocation / user-invocable), while preserving the rest of the front matter. The changes are automatically read by DSH during rediscovery.
  5. Security restrictions: Editing is available only for skills with real file paths (runtime or packaged skills are shown as read-only), and routing is limited to loopback access.

Installation and Enabling

Installing this plugin requires using the DSH Web profile. Run the following command:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:zhengjy01/dsh-skill-studio

After installation, restart the dsh web process to activate the plugin. The plugin does not depend on a build step; the lib/ directory contains pure ESM code.

Typical Usage

Web interface operation: Go to “Settings → Skill Manager” on the Web settings page, where you can see a skill list with source badges and invocation status. Click a skill to view and edit its body; after saving, the content is written back to the file. Use toggle buttons to control the enabled, model-invocable, and user-invocable states.

Agent instructions: You can also directly instruct the Agent to use skillmgr_* tools to complete tasks. For example:
* List all skills and tell me which ones are disabled
* Help me disable the session-knowledge skill

Notes

  • Front matter format: The name field in the SKILL.md front matter must match the skill name (kebab-case). Malformed front matter may cause DSH to skip the skill during rediscovery.
  • Editing scope: Editing is limited to file paths reported by the skill registry; the plugin does not accept arbitrary path input.
  • Dependencies and permissions: No additional runtime dependencies are required beyond DSH peer packages. The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process, so the source code and license should be reviewed before installation.

Conclusion

After following the steps above, you can centrally manage DSH skills through the Web interface. The plugin provides a more intuitive path for skill development and debugging.
