Introduction

The core design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” As developers install more plugins, the sections in the global settings dialog can become cluttered. dsh-settings-manager aims to solve this problem by providing a way to manage where other plugins place their settings in the settings interface, without modifying upstream code (deepseek-harness).

Plugin Overview

This plugin is maintained by developer Yiklek and is a client component. Its core value lies in uniformly managing the layout of the settings navigation bar, allowing users to show or hide, reorder, and rename registered settings sections, while ensuring that these policies are persisted.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following capabilities:

  1. Show/Hide Sections: Directly control the visibility of sections in the settings navigation bar. Hidden sections are no longer rendered.
  2. Sorting and Dragging: Sections can be reordered using move-up and move-down buttons, or by dragging. After release, sections are rearranged at the insertion position, keeping numbering precise and conflict-free.
  3. Inline Renaming: Click the pencil icon to enter edit mode and change the display name of the settings navigation item. The content header is still controlled by the original plugin.
  4. Navigation Scroll Adaptation: Fixes the issue where the settings shell navigation bar could not scroll, ensuring all sections (including those placed at the end) are accessible.
  5. Narrow Screen Adaptation: In viewports ≤520px wide, the navigation bar automatically becomes narrower with a compact layout, and the drag handle is hidden.
  6. Multi-language Support: Built-in Simplified Chinese and English support, following the shell language switch.
  7. Information Display: Displays the ID and source plugin (registrant) of each section.
  8. Policy Persistence: All changes are persisted to the server through the DSH standard settings namespace (settings-manager).

Install and Enable

Use the official CLI to install it.

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-settings-manager

After installation, restart the dsh web process to take effect.

Typical Usage

After installation, go to the global settings interface, and a “Settings Orchestration” entry appears at the top of the navigation bar. In this panel, you can perform the following actions:

  1. List and View: View all registered settings sections (including the built-in base section).
  2. Hide/Show: Click the toggle switch to change section visibility.
  3. Drag to Reorder: Hold the handle at the beginning of a row to drag the section. A blue indicator line shows the drop position.
  4. Rename: Click the pencil icon to modify the navigation name.
  5. Reset: Clear custom policies for a single section or all sections and restore the default state.

Use Scenarios and Notes

This plugin is suitable for developers or advanced users who want to customize the layout of the DeepSeek Harness settings interface.

  • Local Saving: Policy changes take effect immediately and are saved locally in the browser.
  • Self Protection: The plugin’s own section (settings-manager) cannot be hidden, ensuring that the management entry is always accessible.
  • Base Section Priority: Base sections such as general settings, models, and plugins are always registered before third-party plugins. This plugin intercepts read paths to cover all sections and does not rely on load order.
  • Icon Limitation: Navigation icons come from the settings shell’s built-in closed list, and this plugin only displays a generic gear icon.
  • Empty State Handling: When the currently visible section is hidden, the content area displays an empty placeholder, while the remaining navigation items remain clickable.

Conclusion

dsh-settings-manager lets users gain full control over the DSH settings interface without touching upstream source code. This lightweight customization capability is an important addition to the DSH plugin ecosystem.
