DSH 0.1.0-rc.8 now takes over core capabilities such as image pasting, persistent storage, and history preview, so native image attachments no longer require third-party plugins to implement them redundantly. However, Grok subscriptions are typically limited to the Grok Build CLI, and in multi-agent workflows, task context and generated media need to be moved manually. The plugin introduced in this article uses the official Grok Build ACP flow to bring the already-logged-in Grok CLI into DSH, where it runs as an ACP subagent, extends native image capabilities, and adds audio and video tools.
What is this¶
This is unofficial community software (maintained by xisheng687) aimed at solving the problem that Grok subscriptions are hard to reuse in DSH. It does not duplicate DSH’s image UI; instead, it focuses on implementing subscription subagents, Imagine tools, and native audio/video cards. The plugin is released under the MIT License.
Core features¶
- Grok subscription subagent: Introduces a Grok-subscription-backed subagent into DSH through the official Grok Build ACP flow.
- Imagine tools: Supports Grok task execution and the Imagine image/video tools.
- Native image attachments: Uses DSH rc.8’s native image attachment capabilities, eliminating the need for a second image UI or storage implementation.
- Native audio/video cards: Provides native audio/video cards with persistent jumping and restart support.
- Voice and video analysis: Provides TTS, STT, and video analysis capabilities. Users must provide an
XAI_API_KEY(these features are not covered by subscription OAuth). - File handling strategy:
- For MP4/MOV files up to 50 MB, full analysis is performed using the complete original file and audio track.
- If the file exceeds 50 MB or the format is unsupported, the system falls back to sampled frames plus timestamped transcriptions.
- Safety mechanism: Requires explicit user consent before original files or derived media leaves the machine.
Installation and enablement¶
Before installing, ensure the environment meets the requirements: DSH 0.1.0-rc.8+, Node 22.19+, ffmpeg/ffprobe installed, and the official Grok CLI logged in.
Run the following commands to install and start DSH:
npx @deepseek-ai/dsh@0.1.0-rc.8 plugin --profile web add https://github.com/xisheng687/dsh-grok-subscription/releases/download/v0.3.0/dsh-subscription-media-suite-0.3.0.tgz
NODE_USE_ENV_PROXY=1 npx @deepseek-ai/dsh@0.1.0-rc.8 web
Typical usage¶
After installation, you can invoke the Grok subagent in DSH conversations. For example, if you want Grok to inspect local images in your workspace, simply include the local path of the image in the delegated task.
Applicable scenarios and notes¶
This plugin is suitable for scenarios that need to invoke Grok subscription features within DSH workflows, especially those involving audio/video processing or leveraging Grok’s visual capabilities.
Notes:
* The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Check the source code and license before installing.
* Composer images remain in the conversation for the selected DSH model and are not implicitly inherited by an independent ACP subprocess.
* TTS, STT, and raw-file video analysis are separate xAI API features. Users must provide XAI_API_KEY; subscription OAuth does not include these permissions.
* Ensure you have logged in with the official grok CLI so that ACP can access subscription-supported features.
Summary¶
This plugin fills the feature gap left by Grok subscriptions in DSH, allowing developers to directly use Grok’s Imagine tools and audio/video processing capabilities within a DSH environment while preserving the simplicity of DSH’s native attachment management.
