In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web interface, input history management is usually basic. Repeatedly typing long prompts or quickly retrieving earlier conversation turns across sessions can easily disrupt the workflow. The dsh-prompt-history plugin solves this problem by introducing Linux Shell-like interaction.
Plugin Positioning¶
dsh-prompt-history is a client-side plugin designed to add terminal-style prompt history and copy-paste functionality to the DSH Web input box. It is maintained by Xiaofei-fei, uses the MIT license, and is categorized as a client-side plugin.
Core Features¶
The plugin mainly provides the following interaction capabilities:
- Shell-like arrow-key history: It supports browsing history using the arrow keys (↑/↓). With an empty input, pressing ↑ moves back through history; after typing a prefix, pressing ↑ can search for matching entries; continue pressing ↑ to page further back; press ↓ to page forward. When reaching the end of history, it restores the line you were typing before browsing history.
- Ctrl+R reverse search: It supports incremental history search, matching recent entries in real time while you type. Press Enter to accept a match, or Esc to cancel and restore the original input.
- Terminal-style copy and paste: It supports right-click to paste directly without opening a menu. It provides two modes: a toolbar mode or an “auto-copy on selection” mode, and it supports quoting selected text as a Markdown blockquote.
- Chat table of contents and history memory: It provides a draggable chat table of contents (Chat TOC) that lists historical messages for quick navigation. Cross-session history memory can optionally be enabled, using browser local storage to save the most recent 200 records.
Installation and Activation¶
The installation command is as follows:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-prompt-history
After installation, refresh the page to use it. There is no need to restart the service.
Typical Usage¶
- Empty input or prefix input: Press ↑ to recall the previous message, or press ↑ to search for matching entries.
- Reverse search: Press Ctrl+R to perform a reverse search.
- Paste: Right-click inside the input box to paste clipboard content directly.
Notes and Limitations¶
- Platform limitation: It only supports Web GUI client-side plugins, and state is stored locally in the browser.
- Environment requirement: The runtime environment requires Node version >= 20.
- Behavior characteristics: It is a pure UI behavior, does not initiate model requests, and does not modify the agent loop. Recalled content is plain text only and does not include images or command chips.
- Shortcut conflict: Ctrl+R does not trigger browser refresh.
Summary¶
dsh-prompt-history provides a terminal-like input experience and is suitable for developers who frequently need to recall historical context in the DSH Web interface or who need efficient text copy and paste.
