Preface

The model selector in DeepSeek Harness (DSH) usually includes reasoning levels. The plugin dsh-reasoning-slider provides a cleaner UI approach by separating the model from reasoning intensity, while strictly following the levels actually declared by the current model.

Please note that active development of this project ended on August 31, 2026. It is now maintained as a read-only archive and will no longer be adapted to future DSH versions.

Plugin Positioning

  • Plugin name: dsh-reasoning-slider
  • Maintainer: WSL043
  • Core value: Provides concise reasoning intensity control in the input interface, without fabricating model capabilities or changing provider routing.

Core Features

This plugin is integrated through native interfaces and mainly provides the following capabilities:

  1. Model capability recognition: Displays only the levels actually provided by the current model, without adding fictional options.
  2. Low-overhead interaction: While dragging, it only performs local previews and submits one request to DSH after release.
  3. Native styling: Follows DSH’s design variables and interfaces to maintain visual consistency.
  4. Custom color schemes: Supports light/dark mode and provides an option to save color schemes separately for each model.
  5. Keyboard support: Supports keyboard operation.
  6. Clear privacy practices: Does not read credentials or accounts, contains no telemetry, and does not initiate network requests on its own.
  7. Three modes:
    • Official: Fully restores the official DSH model selector.
    • Native: Uses quiet intensity pills and a compact pop-up slider.
    • Energy: Provides WebGL glow effects, displays brief animations on drag and on completed submission, and keeps the highest level continuously burning.

Installation and Configuration

Run the following command in the terminal to install it:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-reasoning-slider

After installation, find Reasoning Slider · Beta in the DSH settings menu and select the desired mode to enable it.

To update or remove it, use:

dsh plugin --profile web update dsh-reasoning-slider
dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-reasoning-slider

Current Status and Notes

  • Archived status: Active development ended on August 31, 2026. The project is currently retained only as a read-only archive.
  • Beta status: The visual renderer and color interaction are still being refined, and the visual interface is unstable.
  • Native control alternative: Current DSH already natively provides model-declared reasoning levels in the model menu. If you want to use the official controls, you can run the remove command to remove this plugin.
  • Privacy and security: Does not read DeepSeek balance or quota. This project is a community project and has no affiliation with or endorsement from DeepSeek.
  • Behavior boundary: The energy effects only run while the compact overlay is open; intensity selection is always submitted through the official DSH interface.

Summary

dsh-reasoning-slider provides reasoning intensity control across three modes, with support for light/dark color schemes and keyboard operation. Because the project is now archived, if you are looking for the latest feature iterations, it is recommended to prioritize DSH’s native controls. For a customized visual experience, you can refer to its GitHub repository.
