In the daily use of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), the execution of background tasks, the flow of approval processes, and updates to conversation progress often require users to keep watching the page. If the page is switched away from or minimized, these status changes can easily be missed. The dsh-attention-notify plugin uses the native browser notification mechanism to push key DSH events directly to the desktop or system notification center, solving the pain point of “missing status updates when the page is invisible.”
Plugin Overview¶
This plugin is maintained by Unintendedz and aims to provide lightweight desktop-level notifications for DSH. It runs on the browser side and captures events that require user attention by listening to the DSH conversation list stream.
Core Features¶
The plugin monitors and notifies the following event types:
* Task status: conversation completed, subtask completed.
* Process nodes: approval request, question awaiting an answer, plan awaiting review.
* Background jobs: completion, failure, or termination of background tasks.
In terms of operation, the plugin uses an event-driven model. Even if the page is hidden, as long as the DSH page remains open, background status changes can trigger notifications in real time. Clicking a notification entry can focus the browser directly and open the corresponding conversation.
In terms of technical implementation, the plugin has zero runtime dependencies and does not depend on external servers, Shell execution, external requests, or telemetry data.
Installation and Enabling¶
- Install the plugin
Use the following command to install the specified version:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:Unintendedz/dsh-attention-notify#v0.1.4
-
Configure and test
After installation, you need to restartdsh weband refresh the page. Go to Settings → General → Task notifications and select Enable notifications. After successfully granting browser permissions, the system will send a test notification. To disable notifications, you can change the permissions in the browser’s corresponding site settings.
Notes¶
- Page liveness: The DSH page must remain open. If the browser or operating system suspends or discards the page, the plugin will also stop working.
- Privacy visibility: Notification text includes DSH conversation titles or background job labels, which may be shown in lock screen previews.
- UI layout: The control is currently located in General Settings and no longer occupies the sidebar footer. In very narrow windows, the control inherits a fixed two-column layout.
Summary¶
dsh-attention-notify provides DSH users with non-invasive status monitoring capabilities, suitable for developers who need to continuously follow the execution progress of Agents in a multitasking environment.
