Introduction¶
When using DeepSeek Harness in a Windows environment, the native folder picker may truncate filenames due to character encoding issues, and proxy configuration or PowerShell version may also affect execution. The dsh-doctor-windows plugin is used to diagnose these environment issues and ensure that plugins and Harness run correctly on your local machine.
Plugin Introduction¶
dsh-doctor-windows is a diagnostic plugin for DeepSeek Harness that checks various configurations in the Windows environment. It is maintained by sublatesublate-design, and its core value is troubleshooting runtime anomalies caused by environment configuration.
Core Features¶
The plugin mainly checks the following:
- System and version information: Checks the versions of Harness, Node.js, platform, and architecture.
- Workspace permissions: Checks whether the current workspace is readable and writable.
- Character encoding issues: Detects UTF-16 low-byte zero characters, which may cause the native folder picker to truncate filenames.
- Proxy configuration: Checks proxy environment variables and Node.js
NODE_USE_ENV_PROXYstartup settings. - PowerShell environment checks: Probes the discovery and launching of PowerShell 7 (
pwsh) and Windows PowerShell. - Koffi installation: Checks the Koffi installation status owned by Harness’s native folder picker.
Installation and Activation¶
Before installing, ensure Node.js is installed. The required version is ^22.19.0 || >=24.0.0.
- Run the installation command to add the plugin to the Web configuration file:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:sublatesublate-design/dsh-doctor-windows#v0.1.0
- After installation is complete, run the command in the Harness workspace:
/doctor-windows
Uninstallation¶
To remove the plugin, run the following command:
dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-doctor-windows
Use Cases and Precautions¶
This plugin runs with the privileges of the current DSH process. Note the following limitations when using it:
- Privacy and security: It does not print proxy URLs or credential values.
- Behavioral limitations: It does not change system settings, open folder dialogs, or make network requests.
- Source trust: The plugin is installed via pnpm, and build scripts are allowed to run only from trusted sources.
