DSH is designed with the principle of “everything is a plugin.” For users of the Web interface, the default appearance is often lacking in personalization. dsh-web-skin aims to address this pain point by providing a wallpaper skin solution that requires no complex configuration. It supports changing images from local paths, a glassmorphism translucent effect, and automatic restoration of state after reboot.

Plugin Introduction

The plugin is maintained by SnoWinKK. It allows users to set the background image of the DSH Web interface through a local path and overlay the interface base color with translucency, letting the wallpaper show through the UI. It also integrates a settings panel, supports persistent path storage and one-click restoration to defaults, and images are transferred only on the local machine without being uploaded to the cloud.

Core Features

  • Change images via any local path: Supports entering a local file path (file size limit: 8MB) and applies immediately.
  • Glassmorphism translucent effect: Achieves translucency by overriding theme base color Tokens, compatible with light and dark themes.
  • Persistent path storage: Settings are saved in local storage, and the previous image is automatically restored after DSH restarts.
  • One-click default restoration: Revert to the default image at any time.
  • Privacy and security: Image transfer is limited to the local machine only and does not involve network access or uploads.

Installation and Activation

Run the following command in the terminal to install the plugin:

dsh plugin --profile <profile> add github:SnoWinKK/dsh-web-skin

After installation, restart DSH. The dsh plugin command automatically adds the plugin to the profile’s bundles, without manual configuration editing.

Usage

  1. Open the DSH settings panel.
  2. Find the “Background Image” option.
  3. Enter a local image path (e.g., C:/Users/you/wallpaper.png) and click Apply.
  4. To restore the default, leave the input box empty and click the “Restore Default” button.

Notes

  • The plugin does not include built-in images by default. When clicking “Restore Default,” the system will attempt to load wallpaper.jpg from the root directory of the workspace.
  • To customize the default image, manually edit lib/index.js in the plugin directory and modify the DEFAULT_IMG variable at the top.
  • Images are supported up to a maximum of 8MB.

Summary

This plugin reads local files through an HTTP route in the host process and renders the background on the browser side. It has a clear structure and is suitable for developers who want personalized display in the Web interface. For more details, please refer to the GitHub repository or the plugin catalog page.
