Introduction

DeepSeek Harness supports plugin-based configuration. In development or testing scenarios, different API endpoints may be needed to reduce costs. The dsh-ark-plan plugin is designed to solve the configuration issue of enabling DeepSeek v4 Flash in DeepSeek Harness through the Volcano Ark Plan API, without creating a custom provider.

Plugin Overview

The plugin is maintained by snow-The and follows the MIT License. It reuses the built-in pi-ai deepseek provider, which already includes support for reasoning models, effort=max, and 1M context. The plugin creates a “budget lane” by overriding baseURL to point to the Ark Plan API.

The system has two lanes:

Lane Provider baseURL Environment Variable Key Prefix
Official (default) deepseek-official api.deepseek.com DEEPSEEK_API_KEY sk-...
Ark budget deepseek Ark Plan API ARK_API_KEY ark-...

Installation and Enabling

Run the following command to install the plugin, then restart DeepSeek Harness Web.

dsh plugin --profile web add github:snow-The/dsh-ark-plan

Configuration and Usage

  1. Configure keys: Configure two independent keys in ~/.dsh/.credentials.yaml. The official lane uses DEEPSEEK_API_KEY (prefix sk-), and the Ark lane uses ARK_API_KEY (prefix ark-).
  2. Switch lanes: Switch the model selector to a model under the deepseek provider to use the Ark budget lane.
  3. Verify: Run the ark_plan_doctor tool to check the configuration and test the connection.

Notes

  • Avoid outdated providers: Ensure that no outdated standalone ark provider (v0.1 layout) is installed; otherwise, duplicate “ark | custom” entries will appear in the model list.
  • Set reasoning effort: The plugin injects reasoningEffort: max by default. If it is not set, thinking will run on the endpoint default (higher).
  • Key matching: Match the key family to the endpoint. sk- is for api.deepseek.com, and ark- is for the Ark Plan API.
  • API key requirement: The Ark lane requires ARK_API_KEY; if missing, it will cause a 401 error.
  • Default override: By default, the plugin applies only when the user has not already configured the same key. It does not override existing user settings.

Conclusion

By reusing the built-in provider and automatically injecting configuration, the plugin simplifies using DeepSeek v4 Flash with the Volcano Ark Plan API. This is useful for scenarios that require budget-friendly token packages.
