Introduction

While developing or debugging with DeepSeek Harness (dsh) web, the Agent may encounter states that require user intervention during execution, such as waiting for input at the end of a turn, tool approval requests, or model questions. If the page is in the background or not checked promptly, these states are easily missed. The dsh-turn-reminder plugin aims to solve this problem by monitoring Agent status and triggering notifications when needed, ensuring users do not miss any blocking points.

Plugin Introduction

This is a user attention notification plugin for DeepSeek Harness web. When a session is waiting for user action, the plugin provides in-page Toast notifications or system-level browser notifications. The plugin is maintained by SipengXie2024 and licensed under the MIT license.

Core Features

The plugin monitors specific events to identify scenarios that require user attention:

  1. turnEnd: Monitors the agent/status event. It is triggered when the Agent changes from a running state to an idle state. This covers finished goals and errored turns.
  2. approval: Monitors the approval/request event. It is used for operations that require interrupting the current flow, such as tool approval and sandbox escalation. These operations usually occur in the middle of a turn.
  3. question: Monitors ask_user_question within the tools/pre-execute event. It is triggered when the model asks the user a question.
  4. plan: Monitors exit_plan_mode within the tools/pre-execute event. It is triggered when the model presents a plan for review.

The notification mechanism has two modes:
* When the page is visible: Shows an in-page Toast notification.
* When the page is hidden: Shows an operating-system-level browser notification.

Installation and Enabling

Use the official installation command to add the plugin:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-turn-reminder-0.1.0.tgz

After installation, the dsh web process needs to be restarted. The plugin will be loaded at startup and automatically provide reminder services for all sessions.

Usage

  1. Find the 🔔 button on the right side of the Composer toolbar in DSH web.
  2. Click the button to grant browser notification permission (browsers require permission requests to be triggered by a user gesture).
  3. Afterwards, whenever any of the four situations above occurs, the system will show a notification. Toasts will disappear automatically after 8 seconds, or you can click them to dismiss them manually.

Notes

  • Counter logic: The plugin begins recording events only after it is loaded, and the counter resets after the process is restarted. The first poll only records baseline data and will not send reminders for historical events.
  • Version compatibility: The plugin has been tested and works under dsh 0.1.0-rc.6.
  • Local reinstallation: If reinstalling via a local tarball file, the version number must be bumped manually. This is because pnpm may retain old build files with the same name and version, preventing the newly installed plugin from taking effect.
