Preface

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is a plugin-based platform. The default dark or light interface is practical, but it is often limited in personalization. If developers or users want to change the visual style of the sidebar, they usually need to modify configuration files or write additional style code. The dsh-plugin-wallpaper plugin provides a more direct solution by adding a selector to the sidebar, allowing users to switch wallpapers quickly and adjust the overlay opacity.

Plugin Introduction

This plugin is maintained by developer shukookie and focuses on visual personalization of the interface. It addresses the question: “How can dynamic backgrounds and brightness control be added to the DSH Web interface without modifying the core theme code?” The plugin manages wallpaper resources through a sidebar panel, supports local file import and one-click switching, and aims to lower the barrier for users to customize the UI.

Core Features

  • Local image upload: Supports jpg, png, webp, and gif formats. Large images are cropped to 2560px width in the browser to ensure interface smoothness.
  • Overlay opacity slider: Provides slider control from 0% to 100% in 5% increments. It overlays a light (in light mode) or dark (in dark mode) layer on top of the background image to keep text clearly visible. The default opacity is 60%.
  • One-click switching: Includes a quick-switch button that cycles to the next wallpaper without opening the settings panel.
  • Preset resources: Includes 7 gradient wallpapers, each color-tuned for light and dark modes.
  • Theme integration: Modifies the theme through the theme.overrideTokens API and automatically restores the default state after the plugin is uninstalled.
  • Light/dark mode adaptation: The overlay color automatically switches between white and black based on the current interface mode.

Installation and Activation

Install the plugin using the official CLI tool. After installation, refresh the page or restart the dsh web service to activate the plugin.

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-plugin-wallpaper

Usage

  1. Open the wallpaper panel: After refreshing the page, click the Wallpaper button at the bottom of the sidebar to open the wallpaper selector.
  2. Select a wallpaper: In the panel, click a preset gradient card, or click the upload button to choose a local image file.
  3. Adjust the overlay: Drag the slider in the panel and observe the contrast between the background and text until you are satisfied.
  4. Quick switch: Click the Switch button in the panel to directly switch to the next wallpaper without reopening the panel.
  5. Restore defaults: To reset all settings, click the Restore default button.

Notes

  • In-memory storage: Uploaded images are stored only in the memory of the current page. After refreshing the page or restarting the service, locally uploaded images will be lost and will not be written to disk or uploaded to the network.
  • Implementation approach: The plugin modifies the theme only through the public theme.overrideTokens API and does not use invasive methods such as DOM spoofing, ensuring system stability.

Summary

dsh-plugin-wallpaper is a lightweight visual customization tool. Through its sidebar manager, local image support, and real-time preview features, it allows users to quickly customize the DeepSeek Harness interface style without imposing a burden on system performance.
