DeepSeek Harness supports plugin-based extensions. For the Web interface file explorer (dsh-better-sidebar), default icons often lack recognizability. The following section introduces the dsh-material-file-icons plugin, which brings the design style of Material Icon Theme to this interface.

Plugin Purpose

This plugin is maintained by sarfarazstark and is intended to provide Material Icon Theme-styled file and folder icons for the file browser in DSH’s Web interface. It addresses the low recognizability of default file icons by redistributing SVG assets from upstream projects.

Core Features

  1. Icon Assets

    • Provides about 350 real SVGs from Material Icon Theme and shadcn glyphs.
    • Supports 90+ file types, covering languages, frameworks, configuration files, media files, archives, and more.
  2. Smart Mapping

    • File-name-specific icons: Provides dedicated icons for specific file names, such as tsconfig.json, jest.config.*, nest-cli.json, and components.json.
    • Folder variants: Provides about 130 named folder sets (such as src, components, __tests__, .github, node_modules), including open/closed state variants.
  3. Technical Implementation

    • Icons are served via the /material-icons/*.svg route.
    • Uses MutationObserver and CSS for style mapping, without patching the original dsh-better-sidebar code.

Installation and Enablement

Run the following command in a terminal to install:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:sarfarazstark/dsh-material-file-icons

After installation is complete, restart DeepSeek Harness Desktop to activate it.

Notes

  1. Environment Dependency: Requires Node version >= 20.
  2. Copyright Notice: Icon artwork belongs to upstream projects (Material Icon Theme, vscode-icons); this plugin only redistributes SVG assets.
  3. License: Distributed under the MIT license.
  4. Directory Note: This plugin is collected from the SkillHub directory, which has no official affiliation with DeepSeek / High-Flyer.
