Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts an “everything is a plugin” architectural philosophy. When developing agents, Agents often need to check the availability, response latency, or headers of external services without necessarily retrieving the full response body. The dsh-http-probe plugin is designed to address this need; it adds an http_probe tool to the Harness Agent.

What Is This

This is a DSH plugin developed by the maintainer po-et. It gives Harness Agents the ability to probe arbitrary HTTP(S) endpoints, retrieving status codes, latency, and key response headers without downloading the response body.

Core Features

  • Adds the http_probe tool.
  • Checks HTTP(S) endpoint status codes, latency, and key response headers.
  • Does not download the response body; it only performs probing.
  • Suitable for API health checks.

Installation and Enabling

Since the plugin has not been published to npm yet, it needs to be installed directly from GitHub. Use DSH’s plugin management command to add the plugin:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:po-et/dsh-http-probe

During installation, if pnpm is used, the package manager may ask whether to allow build scripts (the prepare step compiles TypeScript). Confirm according to the prompt.

Typical Usage

After installation, the Agent can directly use the http_probe tool. For example, ask the Agent to probe whether a website is healthy:

“Probe https://example.com and tell me if it is healthy.”

Considerations

  • Source Code and License: It is recommended to review the source code and LICENSE file before installation (currently under the MIT License).
  • Runtime Permissions: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Ensure the execution environment is secure.

Summary

dsh-http-probe provides DSH Agents with lightweight HTTP probing capabilities through the http_probe tool, making it ideal for API health checks and connectivity verification.
