Introduction¶
Managing skills in DeepSeek Harness typically requires manual configuration file editing or using the command line, which involves cumbersome workflows and is error-prone. The nay-1/dsh-skill-manage plugin provides a Web UI-based graphical management interface, allowing users to install, uninstall, enable, and disable skills directly in the browser.
What This Is¶
nay-1/dsh-skill-manage is a plugin that runs on the DeepSeek Harness Web settings page and is maintained by Nay-1. It addresses the issue that traditional skill management requires direct editing of the SKILL.md file, and supports unified management of user-level and project-level skills.
Core Features¶
The plugin provides the following core capabilities:
- Zero file management: Enable, disable, or uninstall skills directly from the Web UI; the plugin automatically rewrites the relevant flags in the frontmatter.
- Four installation methods: Supports local folders, browser folder selection, GitHub repository links, and online search.
- Intelligent batch installation: Can parse GitHub tree links, automatically scan the directory tree, and allow users to select multiple skills and install them batch-wise with one click.
- Conflict-first UX: When installing a skill with the same name, the system prompts “Overwrite” or “Cancel” by default to avoid accidental overwrites.
- Network resilience: If directly cloning a GitHub repository fails, it automatically falls back to mirror sources (such as
ghfast.top/gh-proxy.com) and retries. - Official precedence alignment: The scanning order strictly follows the official
dsh-skill-filesystemprovider, ensuring the correct precedence of project-level and user-level skills.
Installation and Activation¶
Install the plugin with the following command:
dsh plugin --profile web add @nay-1/dsh-skill-manage
After installation, restart the dsh web service to activate the plugin.
Typical Usage¶
- Install via npm: Run the installation command above.
- Install via GitHub: Use
dsh plugin --profile web add github:Nay-1/dsh-skill-manage. - Batch installation: Paste a GitHub tree link in the Web UI, select the skill directories to install, and click Install.
- Search skills: Enter a keyword, click the Install button, and install from the online skill catalog.
- Manage skills: In the Web UI list, use the enable/disable buttons to control whether a skill is invoked, or click Uninstall to remove the skill.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Private repositories: Not supported; the plugin currently has no credential mechanism and cannot access private repositories.
- GitHub rate limits: The GitHub Trees API has a rate limit of 60 requests/hour; when it fails, it automatically falls back to local clone scanning.
- Search timeout: The skills.sh search API has a 10-second timeout.
- Restart requirement: After installing the plugin, restart
dsh webto load it. - Publishing constraints: npm publishing may require two-factor authentication, which must be configured in personal settings.
Short Conclusion¶
The plugin transforms the previously manual configuration-editing skill management workflow into visual Web operations, significantly lowering the barrier to use. Developers can focus more on developing the skills themselves.
