Introduction¶
When using DeepSeek Harness or other Agent Skills-compatible tools, agents often jump directly to code implementation when requirements are unclear. This can easily lead to rework or deliverables that do not meet expectations. SpecWorkflow provides agents with a complete path from a rough request to requirement clarification, implementation specifications, code execution, delivery review, repair planning, and source-code research.
What It Is¶
SpecWorkflow is a shared workflow skill pack maintained by MoonCoder-HAPPY. It is compatible with DeepSeek Harness and other Agent Skills tools. Its core function is to give agents an ordered workflow: starting from an initial vague request, it goes through requirement clarification, implementation specification generation, code execution, delivery review, repair planning, failure diagnosis, and finally completes source-code-based research.
Core Features¶
SpecWorkflow provides the following skills:
- Research (deep-research): Investigation based on source code, documentation, APIs, standards, or other first-hand materials.
- Requirement Grilling (to-grill): Requirement clarification, ambiguity removal, risk review, and deciding whether to apply a direct fix or enter the full workflow.
- Implementation Specs (to-spec): Producing implementation-ready specifications, amendments, acceptance criteria, verification plans, and optional task tickets.
- Execution (spec-do): Executing code from approved specifications, issue sets, amendments, or repair plans.
- Delivery Review (do-review): Performing a final delivery review against the original request, specifications, code diffs, tests, and evidence.
- Repair Planning (fix-review): Generating repair specifications and repair tickets for must-fix items found in review.
- Bug Diagnosis (bugs-fix): Reproducing failures, diagnosing root causes, fixing them, and generating repair evidence.
Installation and Enablement¶
Install it in DeepSeek Harness:
dsh plugin --profile web add specworkflow
dsh web
After installation, you can use dsh --profile web --dump-config to check whether the configuration includes the specworkflow plugin.
Typical Usage and Workflow¶
SpecWorkflow does not force every request through the full workflow. For small, specific edits, such as “make the table font larger,” the agent directly implements the change to avoid process overhead. Only work involving cross-module impact, product-level requirements, data semantics, permission boundaries, APIs, or release sensitivity is escalated to the full workflow.
Once the full workflow is entered, the order is:
to-grill -> to-spec -> spec-do -> do-review -> fix-review -> spec-do repair -> do-review
to-grill turns vague requests into concrete conclusions and determines the next step; to-spec turns them into an implementation contract; spec-do is the first stage that touches production code; do-review decides whether the delivery is acceptable; fix-review creates a plan for must-fix issues; and bugs-fix and deep-research serve as auxiliary skills for failure diagnosis and deep source-code research, respectively.
Directory Structure and Goal Mode¶
SpecWorkflow stores workflow files in the .spec-workflow folder under the project root to keep project code and agent evidence records separated.
Example directory structure:
.spec-workflow/<feature-slug>/
requirements.md
spec.md
issues/
amendments/
implementation/
review/
repair-spec.md
repair-issues/
verification/
debug/
bugs/
research/
Goal Mode is a continuous execution switch. Once enabled, the agent can continuously complete the implementation, review, repair, and secondary review of a specification without interruption until it is finished or reaches a blocking point such as product decisions, security concerns, or Git decisions.
Summary¶
SpecWorkflow uses a standardized set of skills to help agents in DeepSeek Harness maintain a clear execution path for complex tasks. By distinguishing simple edits from complex workflows, it preserves efficiency while ensuring delivery quality.
