Preface

The DeepSeek Harness (DSH) plugin ecosystem allows additional features to be added to the Web UI. When switching between multiple sessions or running long tasks, missing key prompts (such as requests for approval, answers, or errors) is a common pain point. This plugin uses the browser-local Web Audio API and Web Speech API to provide DSH with notification sounds and Chinese/English voice reminders, with independent configuration for scenarios such as approval, answer, completion, and errors.

Core Features

The plugin mainly includes the following capabilities:

  1. Five Reminder Scenarios: Supports approval, answer, completion, error, and stuck (experimental) scenarios. Each scenario can independently configure tone, voice, volume, and on/off state.
  2. Voice and Notifications: Supports Chinese and English voice announcements and browser system notifications. If browser speech synthesis is unavailable, it automatically falls back to a notification sound.
  3. Settings Page Management: Provides a sidebar settings page, with support for overall volume adjustment (0-200%), tone selection (ding-dong/low/light tap/alert/voice/custom/mute), and restoring default settings.
  4. Multi-Session and Repeated Reminders: Supports switching reminders between multiple sessions and setting repeated reminder intervals (10/20/30 seconds), for unhandled events.
  5. Data Persistence: Settings are persisted to localStorage and retained after refresh or restart.
  6. Stall Detection: Provides an experimental stall detection feature (disabled by default) to detect when an Agent has no progress for a long time.

Installation and Enablement

Ensure the DeepSeek Harness version is 0.1.2 or later. Use the following command to install the plugin:

dsh plugin --profile web add @machine-126/dsh-alert-sound

After installation, restart dsh web, then find “Settings → Alert Sound” in the sidebar to configure it.

Typical Usage

  1. Configure Reminders: At the top of the settings page, first switch the UI language (Auto/Chinese/English). In the “Alert Sound” section, configure the tone, voice, and volume for each notification type.
  2. Use Voice: Switch a notification type to “Voice”; the browser will read the specific content aloud (e.g., “Approval required: write” or “Error occurred: “).
  3. Reset Settings: If the configuration becomes messy, use “Restore default settings” at the bottom of the settings page to reset it with one click (usually with a secondary confirmation).

Requirements and Notes

  • Dependency Version: Requires DeepSeek Harness 0.1.2 or later. Earlier versions can only receive “completion/error” reminders.
  • Browser Capabilities: Depends on the browser’s Web Audio API (for playing tones) and Web Speech API (for voice, optional).
  • Local Processing: All data processing is performed locally in the browser; it does not store session data, does not make network requests, and does not store user privacy data.

Conclusion

This plugin reduces the likelihood of missing important session states through sound and voice assistance. More details and the source code are available on the project homepage.
