Introduction

In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) plugin ecosystem, creative guidance often remains at the conversational level. When a user enters “I want a premium feel,” starting production immediately usually yields mediocre results. A real creative director would first determine the creative domain (short video, brand visuals, etc.), then ask follow-up questions along the professional dimensions of that domain, and finally converge into a concrete brief.

The dsh-creative-director plugin embeds this professional workflow into DSH’s native capabilities: first determine the domain, then assess and ask follow-up questions based on domain dimensions, produce a ready-to-use domain brief (JSON), and render it into imagePrompt / videoPrompt / captionPrompt using the built-in cd_render.

Plugin Overview

  • Name: dsh-creative-director
  • Maintainer: lussey820
  • Category: Workflow
  • License: MIT

The plugin aims to bridge the gap between “vague requirements” and “professional output,” turning creative decisions into a reusable and testable toolchain through codified workflows.

Core Features

1. Domain Detection and Adaptive Follow-Up

The plugin includes built-in intent detection. When a user submits a requirement in a dsh conversation, the skill automatically takes over the workflow.

  • Domain detection: Uses cd_assess(mode=auto) to identify the domain the requirement belongs to (short-video, brand-visual, ecommerce, game-concept).
  • Adaptive follow-up: After the domain is identified, it evaluates the request along the domain’s professional dimensions. If coverage is insufficient or conflicts exist, it automatically generates follow-up questions to guide the user in completing required items (for example, the first 3-second hook for short videos or conversion hooks for ecommerce sales).

2. Generate a Domain Brief JSON

A Brief is structured JSON data that includes common core fields and domain-specific fields.

  • Common core: includes direction (creative direction) and meta (metadata).
  • Domain fields: change dynamically based on meta.domain. For example, the short-video domain includes hooks (hooks), pacing (pacing), and storyboard (storyboard); the game-concept domain includes worldview (worldview) and subject (subject design).

3. Render Prompts

The plugin includes the cd_render tool, which renders Brief JSON into prompts ready for generation models. This ensures that detailed fields are not left unused, but immediately become inputs available to primary consumers (such as text-to-image/video models).

4. Framework Logic Extraction

To improve reliability and testability, the plugin extracts framework logic into independent tools:

Tool Name Description
cd_assess Performs domain detection and routing, returning domain suggestions, confidence, or coverage scores.
cd_detect_conflict Detects soft conflicts in text and returns conflict points and recommendations.
cd_save_brief Validates the Brief structure and saves it as a JSON file.
cd_render Renders a Brief into imagePrompt/videoPrompt/captionPrompt.
cd_polish_type Determines the text type (prompt/copy/ask).

Installation and Activation

This plugin is a pure ESM module, requires no build step, and can be installed directly.

dsh plugin --profile demo add github:lussey820/dsh-creative-director

For local installation, run the following command in the repository directory:

dsh plugin --profile demo add .

Typical Usage

Submit requirements directly in a dsh conversation, and the skill will automatically take over the workflow. Taking “a short video for a cyberpunk coffee brand” as an example:

  1. The user inputs: “Help me create a short video for a cyberpunk coffee brand.”
  2. cd_assess(mode=auto) is invoked and determines the domain to be short-video.
  3. The short-video dimensional assessment is entered; missing key information is detected (such as the first 3-second hook and 9:16 format requirements), triggering adaptive follow-up.
  4. After the user completes the information, the plugin generates a name (such as “Neon Bitter”) and produces the domain brief.
  5. cd_save_brief validates and saves brief-current.json.
  6. cd_render renders the videoPrompt for downstream generation.

Architecture and Extensibility

The plugin uses a “core framework + domain Profile” architecture, decoupling domain knowledge from the base framework.

  • Core framework: located in lib/framework.js, responsible for generic logic such as assessment, classification, conflict detection, and validation; it does not contain domain knowledge.
  • Domain Profiles: located in the profiles/ directory, including four default domains (short video, brand visuals, ecommerce sales, and game concept art).
  • Extensibility: adding a new domain is straightforward; create a new profile file and define dimensions, fields, required, and render logic, while the framework logic remains unchanged.

This design ensures that framework logic is enforced by code (for example, a score of 0.5 does not count and hard coverage-score rules are applied), while maintaining high testability (unit tests cover convergence decisions, four-domain classification, and more).
