Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is a locally running agent development and execution environment. Developers typically need to interact with agents in a terminal or IDE. dsh-lark is a plugin designed for DSH that acts as a gateway between Feishu/Lark and a local DSH instance. With this plugin, users can directly send instructions in Feishu to drive a local agent and receive real-time replies.
Inspired by botmux, the plugin aims to provide a minimalist “chat as control” experience. It establishes communication through persistent WebSocket connections without requiring a public callback URL, making it suitable for network-restricted environments such as laptops.
Core Features¶
The plugin mainly addresses remote control and status feedback, with the following capabilities:
- Persistent WebSocket connections: Establishes a persistent connection with Feishu and receives messages without a callback URL.
- Session mapping: Private chats map to one-to-one sessions. In group chats, messages from different Threads are isolated from one another. Ordinary group messages share a single session (configurable). The agent does not proactively create threads and only replies where the user spoke.
- Multimodal input: Supports sending images directly in Feishu and natively passing them to vision-capable models.
- File delivery tool: Includes the built-in
lark_delivertool, allowing the agent to send files or images within the working directory back to the chat window. - Single-card interaction: Each task corresponds to one updatable card that displays status in real time (running, completed, error) along with execution steps, with a Web button at the bottom. Replies overflow into additional messages only when the content is too long.
- Tool approval: Sensitive operations trigger an approval card with one-click approve/reject support in Feishu (
/approve//reject). The Web panel also supports this functionality. - Secure defaults: The
open_idwhitelist mechanism is enabled by default. Unknown users who interact for the first time receive their ownopen_idand must manually add it to the whitelist.
Installation and Enablement¶
Build artifacts are committed to the repository, so the plugin is ready to use immediately after installation with no local build step.
Install command:
dsh plugin --profile web add "github:keepview/dsh-lark"
Configuration Steps¶
-
Create a Feishu app:
- Create a custom app on the Feishu Open Platform or Lark Developer.
- Enable the “Bot” capability.
- Permissions: Select
im:message,im:message:send_as_bot, andim:resource. - Event subscription: Choose the “long connection” mode and subscribe to the
im.message.receive_v1event. Also select “long connection” in the callback configuration (used to receive click events from approval cards). - Publish a version and obtain the
App IDandApp Secret.
-
Provide credentials:
Environment variables are the recommended configuration method:
export DSH_LARK_APP_ID=cli_xxx
export DSH_LARK_APP_SECRET=xxx
export DSH_LARK_ALLOWED_OPEN_IDS=ou_xxx
> If credentials are not configured, the plugin remains idle and displays a prompt, without blocking DSH startup.
Interaction and Commands¶
After installing and starting the DSH Web Profile, you can interact directly with the bot:
- Trigger methods: Send a private chat message directly in Feishu, or @ the bot in a group chat.
- Supported commands:
/steer <text>: Take over the conversation./stop: Stop the current task./new: Start a new task./sessions: View the session list./resume <id>: Resume a specific session./approve//reject: Approve/reject a tool invocation./help: View help.
Security and Architecture Notes¶
- Security warning: Unknown users are denied by default. To make the bot available to everyone, set the environment variable
DSH_LARK_ALLOW_ALL_USERStotrue. However, this allows any user who can contact the bot to drive the local agent, so use it with caution. - File restrictions: The
lark_delivertool is limited to sending files within the working directory. - Code size: The plugin source code is about 600 lines and has a compact structure. The Lark protocol layer relies entirely on the official SDK; there are no extra runtime dependencies, and the SDK code is inlined.
- Applicability: DeepSeek Harness is currently a developer preview release. When deploying it, pay attention to its sandbox boundaries, such as broad read-only permissions and unrestricted egress traffic.
Summary¶
dsh-lark provides a lightweight way to connect a local DSH agent to the Feishu ecosystem. For developers who need to perform remote development debugging, code review, or local automated execution through an instant messaging app, this plugin is a direct solution.
